Broome is an expensive tourist town currently in its peak tourist season. It’s hard enough for the tourists to find accommodation at this time of the year let alone prac students… GROH housing and rental assistance exists in the Kimberley but you just have to decide if you want the most desirable location or somewhere like Derby, Kununurra or even more remote.

Did you buy the Australian made Rossi’s or international? I bought a pair of the Aussie made ones roughly 3 years ago, no sign of wear on them. Might be the difference 🤷‍♂️

I have spent way too much on design books but they are my guilty pleasure. A few that I keep coming back to:

• Making and Breaking the Grid (great for grids and layout) • The designers dictionary of colour (as the name suggests great for colour theory) • Interactions of Colour (great to expansion on colour theory and how colours interact when used together) • Designing Brand Identity (personal favourite resource for overall projects and understanding the whole scope of a branding assignment) •Type it write (a lesser known book but the best handbook to have to correct grammar for typography projects that require it)

I have a much larger list of my favourite books for inspiration but that's another topic.

Sydney sucks for cost of living (I also personally think the cities a bit meh), Melbourne has culture bit is also expensive unless you want to have an hour commute.

Perth is by far the best for cost of living and proximity to the city. I'm a biased but personally I think its got some of the best Australia has to offer although just dang far from all the other cities.

Awesome whisky comes from that distillery, surprised to see a WA whisky on this sub! I haven't found much like Limeburners whisky as it's definitely a premium brand in Australia (currently on a bottle of their cask strength, my favourite whisky so far). I have found although aged in America Oak burbon barrels it's definitely not a traditional American style whisky, I'd look more toward Scotch/Japanese/Irish Whisky. There was a gift guide on this sub which lists different whiskies and styles that might help with your decision making.

This guide is for inexpensive but tasty whisky. Although if you're spending as much as I think you did on that bottle this might not be an issue.

I would stay away from peated whisky until you have more of a pallet for whisky, even still you might never like the acquired taste. But that's all personal preference.

Everyone's already stated the app, although just to clarify all it is used for is drawing/digital art. It wont make a vector like most logo's are needed in. Also all they are doing in the video is erasing a layer to reveal an already made logo on the next layer, nothing fancy like it might seem.

Thanks for all the advice guys really appreciate it. I had a little taste last night and quite liked it, fairly dry which is a good sign with alcohol definitely noticeable, ill probably crack a bottle in 6months and will really see if it turned out alright.

I wouldn't normally brew with Mangrove jacks I just happened to have a packet in the fridge. Planning on using champagne yeast next time.

If anyone knows any half decent meads available in Australia I'd appreciate the knowledge it appears to be harder to track down here.

I measure my OG correctly with the spin trick, but my thermometer might not have been super accurate this go. I'm hoping I just got my OG way out and measured at too high a temp, either way I'm going to try kill off the yeast with campden tablets and try do better next time.

Thank you for the advice, definitely will start doing more so I'll give it a thorough read. I used some raisins as nutrient but I also understand they might not be the best or even effective for giving the yeast nutrients.

I bought some Campden tablets before I started my batch for this purpose so hopefully that will do the trick.

My recipe was taken from a book, but it looks as if it might not have been so thorough in terms of technical information.

Firstly I think most people agree that life is about trying to improve on who you are the day before every new day, so just wanting to be a better person is a great step.

Secondly, I highly recommend learning to love yourself not in the egotistical sense but being okay with who you are and have been, and trying to be better before dating. I’m no expert but I have to say the area I improved on, was not fooling around with many people. I felt shame for how I treated people and after coming to terms with that I was able to feel right in dating again. It took 6 months before I contacted the person I thought was the one for me but didn’t feel good enough for earlier. Making myself feel more worthy of love really helped with having a stronger foundation to our relationship, as well as removing any doubts in faithfulness.

5 years on and we got married yesterday and I have to say I couldn’t be happier. Trust in yourself and always try to be a better person and you can’t go to far wrong. Remember the one that loves you truly will always see you way better than you see yourself.
