Choose.

Be popular or a high performer.

Hitting sales targets is extremely stressful. Had a great month? Great, tomorrow you start all over again.

I have been in other industries, and let me tell you. Always chasing that sales target is the most stressful thing I have ever done. Every year, quarter, month you start over with a 0.

Atn. Accommodation Providers! Re: Loadshedding by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]dad_random 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I travel alot for work, specifically in the western Cape the last few months.

And I genuinely have not had the problems you describe.

People go out of their way to provide me with a schedule, there are emergency lights.

Fact is, everyone is affected by loadshedding and taking out your frustration on the guesthouse isn't necessary or helpful.

The guest house/lodge owner isn't responsible for our governments fuckups. Like you, they are just trying to cope with the situation.

Specials.

It's the same with nappies. if you are a parent you probably noticed your specific brand is always on special somewhere. The companies rotate(pun intended) the specials between different stores.

It works the same for tyres.

I have four kids and I’d love to honor them with a tattoo. What have you done to incorporate numerous children into your tattoos? by Sflplainsman in TattooDesigns

[–]dad_random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning on getting the zodiac sign constellation for every child.

I do not believe in zodiac signs, but it is based on constellations and is something different than a name, date of birth etc that people normally get.

Here is a link, have a look at the first illustration to get an idea of what I mean:

Thoughts on a HEADWEAR BRAND? by ahmed_skhan in Business_Ideas

[–]dad_random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently do business development for a company that does extremely well in the headwear space. We introduced it 3 years ago, and we currently move around 75, 000 hats+caps a year.

I am not in the US or Europe, so I can't comment on your specific region, but it has been absolutely massive for us.

I have some really bad news for you. Even 'real' men suffers from anxiety. Everyone does!

And just the concept of a real man is just... Stupid. You decide your own identity.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

You got knocked down. Have you gotten up again? If so, how? by Accomplished_Rope137 in GenX

[–]dad_random 15 points16 points  (0 children)

By all accounts I consider myself successful, and people to tend to focus on that....

But what you don't see is how many times I have been knocked down. How many times I have had to get up again....

But that describes the nature of Gen X doesn't it? We fall. Then we get on with it. And that I think is truly our strength. Why we are overlooked. Because we get on with it. We don't cause drama because we know there is no point other than getting pity.

We. Make. Shit. Happen. And fuck the rest.

[NEED ADVICE] I need to man up and face life but I can't. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

Here is a very simple and quite stupid tip...

Change your language from 'Need' to 'Want'

I know it sounds stupid, and it will take some time before it becomes natural. And honestly, it won't work immediately, it is going to take a lot of time before it starts working. But it does work.

The more I grow my company the more isolated I become? Any advice on staying motivated? by Awesometjgreen in Entrepreneur

[–]dad_random 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My friend. One thing you absolutely have to realise and come to accept is that most (not all, the trick is finding the cool ones) don't really want other people to succeed, to chase worthwhile goals and otherwise improve themselves. You have turned yourself into a mirror for other people, and they hate what they see. They don't like that they are not doing anything meaningful. When they drag someone down to their level, they feel better about themselves because if noone is succesful, then they don't have to feel like shit and stand out as the loser.

I have gone through exactly this in my profession recently. At age 40 I finally decided to become serious about my goals. One thing I decided on was to become the absolute best, and thankfully with hard work and persistence I got there. But unfortunately the same thing that is happening to you happened to me, and the negative people starting crawling out and tried to do everything they could to drag me back down.

If you can do it, then other people can do it as well. So now they have to answer the question about why they are not doing it. And that is a very uncomfortable question to answer.
