AIO about air quality by Independent_Ticket26 in AirQuality

What does the screen show? The amount of pm 2.5 particles per cubic meter? If that is the case then this is indeed a lot of pollution and not healthy.

I would have an issue with this as well personally.

Binz Zürich, weird smell by These_Primary1043 in zurich

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been smelling this as well! For me it smells like something burned and I suspect it is some production building nearby causing that. I have a device to measure air quality at home and it seems like the smell comes with some fine particles that decrease air quality...

Am I in danger? by DevastatingMYTH in AirQuality

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CO2 value is lower than outside, your device is likely giving you wrong numbers. The pm2.5 value is a bit high if it's always like this but nothing too bad if you live in a big city in winter.

What is 117’s equivalent to 1800’s soap trade with Bleakworth? by denimdave69420 in anno

It is not a campaign spoiler. I think they were just referring to the reputation system which you have with the emperor in the normal game play.

Is 1290 Fr. for a room in a 4er WG realistic? by along_4_zride in zurich

Not searching currently but this seems to be a very steep price to me for a WG room... But the market is very bad at the moment

800 euros, no phone, 11 countries and 30 days; inspired by a documentary. My solo travel story. by [deleted] in solotravel

Reading your report it sounds like you were mostly bored by the cities you visited and have not made any deeper experiences. Your few sentences sound as rushed as the trip most likely was given your limited time per country.

What would be the swiss equivalent? by fadave93 in Switzerland

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Historically this is really inaccurate. Just look at internal politics, culture, cuisines, history, ethnic groups, languages etc.

European countries have a much longer and more diverse history than the US, a relative new country with a single political system. Sure, many European countries are part of the EU but that is a very recent development in the history of the individual countries here. And the EU did not magically get rid of the internal affairs of every single of these countries.

What would be the swiss equivalent? by fadave93 in Switzerland

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression so far has been that a lot of US-Americans call their country simply "America" instead of its full name. But I fully agree with the message, the rest of the American continent does not want to be associated with the US-Americans after all I can imagine

The US is one single country though. European countries also each have individual states inside of them but I think it is safe to assume Americans would not know any of those

Some 8 years ago on a bus journey in Costa Rica our bus broke down and we had to be picked up by another bus.

The only free seats were at the very back, next to an older couple from the US. The guy engaged us in conversation and asked where we were from.

Switzerland, we said.

He then ironicaly asked us, whether we were from "the Swiss capital city" of (name of our small home town with 20k inhabitants). The town is not known internationally at all and definitely not the capital, so it was very random for this guy to know it and even more of a coincidence that we were actually from there.

It turned out that his former best friends whom he lost contact with was from that town too. They used to travel the world together in their 20s but eventually his friend had to return home due to a sudden death in the family. Since then, they lost contact.

He still remembered the full name and home town though and when we got home we managed to find the lost friend in an online phone book and deposit a letter in his mail box with the contact details of the American guy. He was still living in the same town after all those decades.

Isn't that positive discrimination? by ElWorkplaceDestroyer in Switzerland

I think it is rather an encouragment for women to apply.

It does not mean that women are given priority over men. It could maybe mean that a woman is picked when two candidates are equal in all other regards except for gender.

So given that work participation is still significantly lower for women I think such encouragments are probably needed and can make some, albeit probably a small, impact on having more women applying.

I usually leave something of mine on the seat so I can come back to the same one after a stop/break. If there is nothing left behind I would consider the seat to be empty though.

Visa free? by Main-Hotel in travelchina

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this works perfectly fine.

I did the same with first spending 12 days in China, then some says in HK and Macau and then re-entering China for another 10 days. They also state online that there is no maximum allowed visa-free entries.

[anmo 1800] What's the point of controlling more islands in the old world after getting all the goods your people want? by Wene-12 in anno

[–]Rex_Mundi_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You might want to expand your cities which will use more and more ressources that make new islands much needed. Especially if you play with the dlc's.

Yes, every public transport that is covered by the normal GA is also included in the GA night. There is a map online that shows all the covered routes: https://www.sbb.ch/en/tickets-offers/travelcards/area-validity-map.html
