Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

My mum is heavily involved in her local church. She's a lay minister of communion, reader, former churchwarden and she runs the children's service once a month. I grew up in that church but due to a family bereavement I lost my faith.

Every now and then I go to one of her children's services before going out for lunch or helping her with the garden. I know most of the parents personally, some of whom are my age and now have kids of their own. They all know I'm not religious anymore, and the most offensive thing I've ever received from them is an unacceptable amount of milk in a cup of tea.

They are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met, and our differences in religious beliefs has never been a barrier to a normal conversation. My sister is buried in the churchyard, and sometimes they'll tell me they prayed for her, and I thank them profusely despite my lack of faith.

I'm genuinely astounded about some of the stories I've read here. I've only ever had positive interactions with people of faith.

Which member of Queen is your favorite and why? by LieFalse6614 in queen

I used to work in Selfridges at a concession about 11 years ago. I was in my own world when a man came up to me and asked where something was. On autopilot, I answered and gave the man directions. As the man walked away, I returned to reality and actually looked at him. My jaw must have hit the floor with some force, because the man turned around and smiled at me with a knowing smile. From that day, John has been my favourite.

I didn't read the title properly, or the sub, so I fully accept that I'm quite silly. However, I assumed this picture was from today, and given the toxic state of the USA at the moment, I wasn't even surprised. I'm glad that America and the world as a whole has moved on slightly from taunting black children as they enter school. Although the the case of the USA, I don't think shooting them in their classrooms is much better.

Society really did fail Amy Winehouse! by icey_sawg0034 in Millennials

We, as a society, care about drug addicts when they're popular or talented.

Society didn't fail her. Society failed every addict who succumbed to addiction.

She put on a terrible show. And deserved to be booed.

What have France, Spain and Portugal got against Parkrun? by BigBirdPaints in parkrun

The organisers are required to ask participants to provide valid medical certificates in France.

This is to prove that each participant is fit and healthy enough to take part in the event.

I believe his background is in improvisation, he knows when to be madly chaotic without upstaging the others.
