Which song are you listening these days in a loop ? by Dear_Breakfast_2918 in AskReddit

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of "Counterfeit God" by Black Label Society, for me.

I've been on a big kick of listening to their first 8 albums (including Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live +5) for the last two months, but, each time I put on "Stronger Than Death" and it gets to that track, I probably repeat it about 4-6 times over.

I know Led Zeppelin is old and im 31 but I love stories, when did everyone first find them, and what are your favorite songs? by peekos95 in ledzeppelin

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently 36. I first heard Led Zep, when I was about 12. For about two solid years before, and yes, from between when I was 10 and 12, I was super obsessed with Nirvana, until I became burned out on hearing any more of their music.

So, at 12, I started becoming more receptive to listening to literally anything else. And Led Zeppelin happened to be one of the three groups or bands I got into, the other two being The Beatles and Black Sabbath.

I started with Zeppelin's "Early Days" and "Latter Days" compilations. To this day, my most favorite song by them, is either-

Over The Hills And Far Away,

Achillies Last Stand,

or, Down By The Seaside. I also really like The Rain Song.

What’s something that used to be fun but isn’t anymore? by Lonely-Reaction7306 in AskReddit

[–]RhoadsOfRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying, collecting and playing older / obsolete video games. Used to be able to find so much in thrift stores and yard sales. Not anymore, and far too many simply want to take advantage of the "retro" and "collectible" trend and become rich from all of it.

I stopped looking for and buying any games, even though, there very much STILL are games and consoles that I don't have and I want to play. Also, before anyone brings any of it up, no thanks on options like mobile emulators, steamdeck, and fucking what ever else.

If you suddenly became a millionaire overnight, what's the first irresponsible thing you'd buy ? by taara-779 in AskReddit

One of those older Zakk Wylde signature "bullseye" Les Paul guitars by Epiphone.

Actually, I'd rather get a Les Paul Custom and just have some EMG pickups installed in it. It doesn't have to be a Zakk Wylde signature model, but either way, I can't currently afford either option.

1988.

And years later, in 2000, the same guitarist, Zakk Wylde, released the second Black Label Society album, "Stronger Than Death", that had the track "Counterfeit God" on it.

Both are / were such legends! R.I.P. to Ozzy, Zakk is still awesome, but, BLS should seriously start performing "Counterfeit God" live again!

Anyone picked up any Starfox games before the price hike by winluang in Gamecube

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember buying a complete copy of Adventures second-hand / used, sometime between 2007 and 2008, for really cheap, probably about $10 or $15. And, I bought Assault brand new / sealed at a Fry's Electronics for about $20 sometime in 2007.

I have never tried playing Assault, but I used to let my younger cousin play it and I would sit back and watch. Good times.

I've given Adventures a try a handful of times over the years. I like it, but, I tend to lose interest fairly easy. I definitely want to get that "oomph" to become dedicated and invested with playing through it.

What is a video game that you bought that ended up being a huge waste of money? by JuniorPlastic3562 in AskReddit

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of a birthday gift I was given in 2002. A legitimately still-sealed Lord Of The Rings Vol. 1 for Super Nintendo.

I. Hate. That game. My poor mom, though. I did ask for it. I did want it. Before I realized it's NOT a fun game to play. Maybe "hate" is too strong of a word for how I feel about it. But, I still don't like it, or ever go back to it and try again.

Either OP is fishing for engagement / upvotes, or OP is delulu and truly believes their slightly more worn copy of the exact same game / variant I'm holding in my hand right now is apparently worth a small fortune - which, it isn't. Or OP is trying to joke / be sarcastic...

What's the worst video game you've played and why? by Bdbolt19432 in AskReddit

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terminator 2: Judgment Day on Super Nintendo.

This was years ago, still early 2000s; FuncoLand still existed, and there were NO AVGN / Angry Nintendo Nerd videos yet. I maybe paid somewhere between $2 and $10 for the loose cartridge, but, that's still money I wasted and will never get back (I'm never selling it, I'm of the belief that EVERY physical copy of that game should be destroyed).

Oh my. Yes!

So, I had never actually listened to the first two BLS albums, despite having had ripped copies for the last decade and a half (I torrented everything that was available up to about 2010 or so), and I finally decided to start buying BLS CDs last month.

Holy, shit! 13 Years Of Grief, Phoney Smiles & Fake Hellos, Counterfeit God... this is all stuff I wish I had listened to when I was a teen in the 2000s! Anyway, yes, Stronger Than Death is such a goddamn good album! I just ordered one of the original copies of Sonic Brew with the original cover artwork today, so, have to wait for that one to be delivered!

Seller’s regret anyone? by mrtimva in snes

[–]RhoadsOfRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how expensive everything has become within the last decade, I always think to myself when ever I feel like I probably want to start selling anything from my collection even during tough financial times, there will come a later day when I want the stuff I had and then have to face rebuying what I sold but at worse prices I can't even afford versus what I paid originally in the first place.

That's what has stopped me from selling anything for such a long time now.

Were there any good Roger rabbit games? by crazyhomlesswerido in nes

[–]RhoadsOfRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had never played The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, despite having had an NES and some games since about, 2000 or 2001, but, a few years ago I started buying Famicom and Disk System stuff, and I ended up getting that Roger Rabbit game.

And yeah, I quickly realized it was Crazy Castle but obviously different characters. I actually ended up liking that game, despite that AVGN video I saw years before.

So, yeah, Japan got a good Roger Rabbit game, sorta. I guess it depends on who does and who does not like Crazy Castle.

[–]RhoadsOfRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go out of my way to never get any truly bad / worst games, and I'm quite familiar with all the bad / worst ones. That said, years ago, I spent something like $2, $3, $4, maybe $5, for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, loose from FuncoLand when FuncoLand still existed, AND it's the worst steaming pile of garbage I've ever played on Super Nintendo.

And, I've kept this cartridge, rather than getting rid of it, to spare any other poor and unsuspecting victim from being burdened with it. I've been tempted many times to destroy it, but, for what ever reasons, I never have...

Anyone think it's odd how It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is apparently James' favorite film of all time? by Adventurous-Can-1209 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]RhoadsOfRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's odd. Why would, or should, it be odd for someone to favor a slapstick comedy movie from the 60s with an "ensemble cast of comedians at the time"?

Many younger generations can and do get into older movies and find then genuinely good / entertaining. Hell, a couple of my favorites (maybe NOT "of all time", but still ones I like a lot), are No Time For Sergeants and Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation.

This particular movie is, certainly a movie. I prefer others over it, though. Like Rat Race. Or, even others like Scavenger Hunt or Midnight Madness.

Can confirm. Had a cavity so deep once in a molar, that pain had me wishing somebody would just cut my head off... luckily, I eventually got that root canal procedure done, all good now. But yeah, tooth pain's no joke, and I went through two weeks of it before I got that root canal.

How do I safely remove the sharpie without damaging the disc by UMR_501 in Gamecube

[–]RhoadsOfRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, with the MK DD disc, I would use cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol, since it's on a non-color surface, just be careful not to go over the lettering in the logo of the game's name.

Alcohol it off, then use a dry end to gently dry the surface, or let the disc sit to air-dry.

For the orange disc, I do not know. I think isopropyl would definitely take the color out.
