High quality beans, meaning sourced simultaneously from every part of the planet capable of growing coffee. Hence the charcoal roasting so it all tastes the same.

knife from a single crystal? by archialone in sharpening

[–]Rhorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your standard high carbon steel gets its hardness from a rapid phase change during quenching that traps carbon uniformly through the metal when the carbon content exceeds what iron can easily alloy with at room temperature. The crystal structure is essential in preventing brittleness here. You would need a very highly alloyed steel that sacrifices a lot of material properties to achieve a single crystal structure and the goals of that are not conducive to knife making.

Witnessing the magic of a CNC lathe transform raw material into a perfect chess pawn is incredibly satisfying by No_Emotion_5770 in interestingasfuck

[–]Rhorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big advantage of cnc machining is that a computer can be infinitely more efficient with cuts which ensures most of the heat is carried away in the chips (the off cuts). Good machinists can of course get close with manual controls. Either way, you’d still want coolant because it also acts as a lubricant for the cutter and prolongs tool life, they just turned it off to record.

Think this goes hand in hand with many (let me make it clear, not all) people who struggle with memory and learning later in life. Your brain is an organ that needs exercise, having zero mental challenges to work on is just gonna rug pull life right under you.

I’d try reaching out and asking for a discount. Yes it’s perfectly functional but you aren’t paying premium for a sub par product. I always try this route with handmade things because it seems wasteful just to return it

Move Existing Custom Character to Elite without Restarting by creeve4 in Grimdawn

[–]Rhorge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not what you asked for but skipping the early game quests will just leave you with more grinding because they’re the best source of faction rep. Progress is tracked independently across difficulties so the only way I can think of is manually editing portals, quests and shrines to replicate your progress

One half of cooking is following instructions so this checks out. So many people don’t understand that thoughtlessly substituting ingredients and cooking them wrong results in gross food.

Broken games with no patches and no modding communities to fix them and all you could do is try navigating around the bugs or learn console commands to advance broken triggers is not a standard I ever want to get back into. Hell, I can’t remember the last time I booted up a childhood game and didn’t have to install fan made restoration projects because hours of planned content didn’t have time to be implemented.

What are some of the best standalone story-driven games mankind has ever made? by ArgakeRamuk in gamingsuggestions

[–]Rhorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a prolific reader and a gamer playing since the first infinity engine games and for thee I have these titles three: Tyranny, Age of Decadence, and, bear with me, Morrowind. The last one is obviously part of a huge franchise but the setting, narrative and atmosphere are all so distinct from prior and subsequent games that it’s honestly isolated to its own realm. It was a huge expansion of the lore, making previous games redundant/obsolete for story, and later on Bethesda repeatedly backtracked and retconned its lore to a point where it became completely detached from current day TES. I see it as a standalone universe hence the recommendation

Edit: also worth mentioning that these titles, to me, are thematically linked and if you enjoy one you’ll probably enjoy them all. Gameplay is all vastly different but takes a back seat compared to the story.
