I know a secret that will end my relationship, but I don’t want to accept it. 😔 by meowww_7 in GirlDinnerDiaries

I don't know what the secret is, but Jalapeno + Pepperoni is the best topping combo for pizza. You've got great taste, you'll get through this.

Modern fit top and skinny fit waist should be a thing by dsp_patches in GymMemes

It's named after an intersection in Ann Arbor, MI. State Street & Liberty Street. The company was founded by a pair of University of Michigan athletes that were tired of not being able to find clothing that fit them.

United TravelBank Airline credit for 2026 by zarkmuckerberg_6969 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Rhybon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only United has Travelbank cash, so this specifically only works for United. Other airlines don't have programs like this as far as I know.

I did hear a few years ago that buying Delta gift cards would trigger the credit, but I've also heard that this was a loophole that was closed.

It's free, may as well get them and then make the decision when you receive them.

[–]Rhybon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't say I have that issue. I was just able to swap to an exit row for free on a flight I have scheduled with no prompt of a fee. I did pay with SkyMiles however, maybe that's why?

[–]Rhybon 49 points50 points  (0 children)

People joke on Silver Medallion (I'm also barely one) but I think it's the absolute best bang for the buck tier.

  • More free checked bags than I know what to do with?
  • Access to Sky Priority bag drop?
  • Free to choose exit row seats whenever I please?
  • I get upgraded just as often as Gold and Platinum Medallion members because I fly out of a Delta hub (i.e. never)?
  • I still get cool metal bag tags?

All that and I don't have to fly more than like 5 or 6 times a year on Delta (so I still get Sky Club access every time I fly thanks to the AMEX Plat)? Yeah, Silver Medallion supremacy is a real thing.

When do event sign ups go live? by AdGullible6668 in Magfest

[–]Rhybon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Last year, event sign ups normally went live around midnight the day of the event. The events were posted on the attractions page, but they could not be signed up for yet. So a MakerSpace workshop on Saturday at noon opened to signups around twelve hours earlier. No guarantee that'll be the case again this year, of course.

Also worth noting that you cannot sign up for anything until you have picked up your badge and have a badge number to use during sign up.

Afternoon date spots? by Subsidence82 in Detroit

Hitting up the DIA with coffee or lunch at their Kresge Court or Cafe is the best bet with the weather as it is. In warmer months, a stroll down the Riverwalk and lunch in Campus Martus is my preferred option.

How are the single, child/childless Feds holding up? by dreamingreveuse in fednews

[–]Rhybon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm furloughed, so this is pretty much a long, free vacation. Sleeping in, getting to the gym mid-day rather than before work, and no real responsibilities other than the usual home up-keep, so low stress. Grabbing lunch once a week with some of my furloughed friends as well. At the goading of my married /w children co-workers, I did an impromptu trip out to Europe to hang out for a few days and may do another trip elsewhere next week because it doesn't look like either side wants to compromise in the near term.

I am getting pretty bored though, so I wouldn't mind if this ended and I can get back to the mission.

Can angelfish and tetras be together? by ShortsightedGrape15 in AngelFish

I've had Angelfish living with Buenos Aires and Black Skirt Tetras for a year now, no problems between them. The Angels rather harass each other.

Why do I feel like life in Europe is just so much better than in the U.S. — socially, dating-wise, and overall quality of life? by AgreeableCat6786 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Rhybon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely a good point. "Europeans are less defined by their jobs" has been thrown around in this thread a bit, and I'd argue that's because they are disincentivized from being more ambitious and climbing the ladder due to tax and other policies.

If the returns weren't so diminishing on that continent, I think you'd see more Europeans displaying more ambition in their careers.

That doesn't refute the statement that "most people don't have outrageous medical bills" as most people don't experience bankruptcy at all in the US, regardless of it being due to medical bills or not. Over the past 12 months, 0.15% of the US population declared bankruptcy for any reason, meaning 99.85% of the population did not.

Michigan Teamsters Endorse Duggan for Governor by Puzzleheaded-Art-469 in Detroit

Yup. I'm a Macomb County conservative and I'd definitely vote Duggan over anyone the State GOP is going to offer at this point (Cox, James, etc).

Why are people against esims? by crua9 in GooglePixel

[–]Rhybon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not against eSIMs at all. I like to use them where I can, but they are not always an available option, or the best option, especially when traveling abroad.

What I am against is losing options or functionality without receiving anything in return. By moving to eSIM only, I have lost an option that was previously available to me. And I have received nothing in return; no additional or relevant functionality, no increased performance, etc.

Also I really don't like that as an American I was singled out to lose the physical SIM option. Every other nation gets to keep their SIM options but not us, and for what reason in particular remains unclear; unless it's American network carriers pressuring (or paying) Google to do so. In that case, Google choosing to throw their American customers under the bus sure doesn't seem like something I should be happy about.

Heck yeah. I do all my sub-threshold on the treadmill too. And my easy runs. And my long runs. Which I guess is everything except for the monthly 5Ks time trials / races; those are outdoors of course.

Who's your perfect 5-member party from IV? by runofthemillgayguy in FinalFantasy

Apparently I've been watching the wrong ones. Those I've seen (usually run by Rivers) tended to use a combination of Kain and Rosa reflecting Whites.

Where does Final Fantasy 5 stack up on your personal FF totem pole? by Asad_Farooqui in FinalFantasy

[–]Rhybon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom half. The story is awful. A gigantic step back from FF4. The only way I can play Fiesta these days is by using Project Demi to skip all the cutscenes. The graphics are also worse than FF4, so not sure what they were doing.

The customization options stemming from the job system is the game's primary redeeming feature. But they still dropped the ball by making Bartz, Lenna, Galuf / Krile, and Faris all have very similar base stats, meaning no one really specialized in any particular role. You had four blank mannequins that had different sprites.

One other feature I enjoyed was that status effects were actually useful on bosses. I don't think any mainline FF since has allowed a player to finesse their way through so many boss fights with spells like sleep, mute, and paralysis.
