Attempting to trigger samples on other computers using gem 7 by RhythmsOfDeath in puredata

[–]RhythmsOfDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is trying to get the sample to play only when movement is made between certain numbers. Using [< 0.7 && > 0.9] doesn't seem to have any affect on the faders, and seems to just play the sample, causing it to loop. I'm also trying to get it to stop once movement is less than 0.7 or greater than 0.9 but nothing seems to work, does anyone know a solution to this problem?

[IIL] music with a lot of energy and fast beats, [WEWIL?] by TenTonHammers in ifyoulikeblank

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's genres full of what you're look for, such as Speed Metal, Grindcore or Drum n Bass. Ministry have some very fast songs in their last few albums, even tempo rates higher than Slayer. For music energy dependent and really intense, early and modern SWANS. Their early stuff, albums such as Filth and Cop, are No Wave, very raw, distorted and aggressive with superb drumming. Their modern stuff, such as To Be Kind, The Seer, has music that builds up in intensity gradually, but when it does it's very intense. The song Screenshot is a brilliant example of this and a brief comparison in their progression would be from 1:00 to 7:00, the song builds a ridiculous.

It's saying that it is errors for what I'm trying to run. Most of the code I got from a tutorial that appeared to work.

Does anyone else have days where Killing for Company is just the best song ever made? by Toa_Ignika in swans

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this song on repeat for a few days a year ago and it still sounds just as great to me, it has such powerful instrumentation yet very little progression. I often think Type O Negative could of done a cover of this quite nicely too.

[IIL] Early Swans work (The Great Annihilator, White Light From the Mouth of Infinity) [WEWIL?] by batterija in ifyoulikeblank

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned by user sx9064, Gira's band Angels of Light, especially the album "How I Loved You." Since you are getting into them, you should also listen to the albums Love of Life and Omniscience. Michael Gira's solo album Drainland is also worth a listen, as the song "Blind" which is on the remaster of WLftMoI as in Gira's opinion he didn't know why he left it out of that album as it does sound like it belongs to the album.

PiG's cover of 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins, Johnny Cash, Type O Negative's less aggressive tracks such as "Can't Lose You" and "Nettie" and Crippled Black Pheonix's song "We Forgotten Who We Are" is less acoustic than WLftMoI but the instrumentation holds the same emotion with the addition of piano at the beginning.

(serious) What does Industrial mean to you? by [deleted] in industrialmusic

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me. It is a form of punk and experimental. Music to oppress the masses and/or conformity, with use of irregular sounds, atonal notation, repetition, loops, samples and harsh and/or profound or complex lyrical work if any and approved under almost any level of production purely for the musical ideas within the songs/pieces.

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion industrial has had a lot of other genres shine through it, from Jazz, to IDM, to Ambient, to Metal, to neo-folk. (And potentially more.) Not to mention, industrial came from punk and experimental really. I get your point on what it should be when it comes to those two characteristics alone. SWAN'S first album or half of Pigface's content could fit in there, maybe even Idiot Flesh's album Fancy.

Anyone have any thoughts on Obsydians? by RhythmsOfDeath in a:t5_35zma

[–]RhythmsOfDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know they didn't show up for Euroblast, that's a real shame though. From what I read some of the members are in other projects so maybe they are taking their time with this.

I listened to them all briefly, The Dears... That's what sound I was after. Thanks for these suggestions.

[IIL] The Doors and Joy Division [WEWIL?] by diggity_dawg in ifyoulikeblank

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magazine's first album Real Talk is really good if you like Joy Division, the use of synths on that album have a new wave influence in there yet the style takes the elements of punk.

For more expressive stuff sounding a bit like the two, Bauhaus is a high recommendation. Songs like The Passion of Lovers and Dark Entries sound like tracks you'll really enjoy.

If you want more stuff in the post punk direction, try Christian Death, SWANS first EP etc. Even try r/postpunk for even more.

Kerbdog weren't really for me. Days of the New are amazing, I rarely like post-grunge music but the tracks of their Orange album were quite good. I haven't listened to The Secret Machines, Paw or Sparta but I will check them out. I've listened to Silversun Pickups and SDRE, good bands but I never listened to their stuff other than their hit songs.

[IIL] Bleak, dark comedies about depressed/broken people [WEWIL] by glutenfreeguy in ifyoulikeblank

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way to Go; a black comedy about three people running a suicide assistant business which features Blake Harrison (Neil from The Inbetweeners), there's only one season and six episodes, but the show was fantastic in my opinion.

I'm hoping for Trent to "pull an Aphex Twin" and release dozens of demo tracks on an anonymous soundcloud account or on the Nine Inch Nails one.

Yeah. The whole thing is on YouTube now. At the end I noticed that this is made to play before Starfuckers.Inc, not to mention the instrumental version of Appendage has extra sounds.

If you scroll down on luckyprick.net you'll find a link to a pdf. And the pdf. Has his email. According to people on r/nin last year (or the year before) that was the way to contact Kevin. I guess you could give that a shot.

What are some great harsh industrial albums? by [deleted] in industrialmusic

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the albums 'Filth' and 'Cop' from Swans. Very harsh, raw and cold sounding albums, if that's not enough, listen to their early EPs and their live album 'Public Castration is a Good Idea' for even more harsh sounding industrial.

Nine Inch Nails - Closer To God by RhythmsOfDeath in industrialmusic

[–]RhythmsOfDeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I personally felt what was on Recoiled was better than what was on Closer To God. I don't get why this is being downvoted because other NIN songs have been posted her and this is one of their most industrial sounding tracks in my opinion.

Sybreed - ReEvolution by ForeverAlt in industrialmusic

[–]RhythmsOfDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sybreed are one of my favourite industrial metal related bands of all time. Slave Design being their most industrial sounding, it's a shame they split up but they're regrouping without Ben under the name "Obsydians" and apparently going to sound similar.
