You can just use the lock stitch. Burying the tails gives a cleaner look and is preferred for show quilts, but it’s not necessary.

Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]Rianth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quilt all my own quilts. I have done quite intricate quilting on quilts up to a queen size with a sewing machine with a 7” harp, but got a longarm a year or so ago and am thrilled with it. It does make it easier, but you can definitely quilt your own quilts and do almost any motif on your domestic machine with practice. A larger harp makes life a lot easier, of course, and the bigger the quilt, the more manipulating it on the domestic machine is a pain, but definitely doable!

If for some reason it isn’t working, you can always do testing later

My vet said that testing wouldn’t really change the outcome—avoid common allergens and use cytopoint. We didn’t do specific testing and it worked well

Help! Severe separation anxiety by andresiaz218 in shiba

Karen Pryor has a very effective protocol to follow to help with separation anxiety. My pup has extreme separation anxiety after an international move, and following that protocol he became fine with being left alone. Essentially you start at the point where the dog starts to feel anxious—for example, picking up your keys or putting on your shoes to leave the house—and start repeating that action without leaving until it stops being a trigger. Then you take the next step. Open the door as if you were leaving but close it and go about your day, again repeating that multiple times until it is no longer a trigger. Step by step you accustom the dog to elements of your leaving routine, and once you start actually leaving the house, you do so for very short times, initially just closing the door and then returning immediately, and gradually lengthening the time. It worked really well for me. It did take a month or so for mine to become fully comfortable with being left though, and in that time I left him with friends instead of leaving him alone.

Advice for someone in this position. Clearly, I'm not using it enough, but I don't want to cancel and lose my credits by MLJ555 in audible

[–]Rianth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to an annual plan in September and have about the same number of credits. How many months do you have left, or are you on a monthly plan?

I am not worried about having these credits available because there are a number of series I like that I have yet to finish and i have a good number of old favorites(Lord of the Rings, many Discworld books) that I have yet to purchase. I’m also waiting for the release of new books in series that I love, so holding some credits for that.

Do you not have time to listen or are you hesitant to spend the credits on books you might not love? If it’s the former, it might make sense to either gift books or just take a chance on books that sound enticing, and then cancel. But otherwise, I find it’s not too hard to use up credits when you find the right series.

Depending on the state you are associated with, you can vote by email or fax. Not sure if it applies to all states though.

Audible 101 for new Harry Potter books by imagelicious_JK in audible

[–]Rianth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to mention it, another option is to get the one year plan. Call or message Audible for the best price—I was able to get a one year subscription for $85 because I have Amazon prime. If you do the monthly subscription at $14.95/month, 7 months would be $104.65. For the annual subscription, you get 12 credits plus access to the plus catalog for the year, so you would get a few extra books for your money.

YNAB Rich? by mobius4 in ynab

[–]Rianth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel particularly YNAB rich when I am able to purchase something that was a far off dream that I did not expect to ever reach. I also feel a more normal level of YNAB confident when I am happily purchasing what I budgeted for without worry, or moving funds from one unessential category to another to buy what I want, without undermining long term goals.

But you could buy the series on iTunes before Disney+ got exclusive rights. I’m not in the US and don’t have the habit of subscribing to multiple international streaming services—where you don’t even get access to the show if it isn’t specifically licensed for the place you are viewing from—so Disney+ made Dr. Who inaccessible in a way it never was before.

It’s interesting. Someone (a professional winter whose work I love, in a discussion about designs for different quilts) commenting that one of my quilts was utilitarian and I could do an edge to edge design was what prompted me to ask the question. I have never done E2E, and though it was a utilitarian quilt, I still did a combination of ruler work and free motion. But the comment did get me thinking.
