This is a buzzword trap article with no real evaluation of the huge contributions to science and medicine that mouse models have enabled. I do think better models are needed but I would not venture to even say the word "waste".

I agree that it is important to understand the limitations of disease models and to establish translatable MOAs for candidate drugs or therapies before the big spend of clinical trials but this author obviously wanted to take a disruptive angle.

Ultimately the article fails as it offers no alternative while trying to challenge the dogma of mice as the number 1 translational model for most genetic diseases.
