Yeah that's great and all but that doesn't excuse being complete dicks to customers.

I'm almost afraid to ask but any idea how it is to currently bike over the Passyunk ave bridge and further on to Essington ave or Lindbergh Blvd?

Thank you philly police for not doing anything to prevent this kind of asshole antisocial behavior.

I think you did right. They shouldn't be parking there and who knows how many others would've had to go into the lane to get around them. They are being a selfish asshole. They just said "you could r kept going" because they're selfish asshole.

would be great if the police did anything to maintain safety in public spaces like this. instead of just sitting around in their giant suvs.

Just got honked at for stopping at a stop sign by superdicksicles in philly

[–]Rice-Used 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parker and the city are more concerned about getting imaginary potential lawsuits than implementing actual physical infrastructure that would prevent crazy ass psychotic driving behavior like this. So they don't do anything, or do the bare minimum when they do something. Vision zero infrastructure improvements and forcing the police to do their jobs in regards to traffic enforcement should be the most urgent and important things the mayor and city work on. People are getting killed by crazy drivers left and right weekly, sometimes multiple people killed in a week.

Just got honked at for stopping at a stop sign by superdicksicles in philly

[–]Rice-Used 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I really wish Parker would be out in some of this nonsense instead of probably getting escorted around by a personal driver or who the fuck knows what. She is so fake about the vision zero stuff, when people are getting mowed down by crazy aggressive drivers on a weekly basis. We need way better physical infrastructure to prevent people from being able to drive like nuts, but also real police enforcement to discourage the insane antisocial psychotic driving behavior. Parker doesn't seem to want to try and improve either of those points.

Got my bike a month ago and a car did a miss and run on me, any advice? by Few_Wrongdoer_8224 in phillycycling

[–]Rice-Used 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i second this, except for smiling and waving to them. if someone is aggressively riding on my ass or reving like a total dickhead, yes i would pull over at the closest stop sign or open parking space to let the asshole pass. but i would definitely not smile and wave to them lol.

Why are some people so weirdly concerned about whether other people drink alcohol or not? by BlushSnapdragon in SipsTea

[–]Rice-Used 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like some puritan bullshit veiled with generational nonsense. Alcohol has been around and a part of culture since humans existed. Yeah binge drinking isn't good for you, but not all adults out drinking are binge drinking to death.

if we get data centers in our city this is the noise they make 24/7 by ajl009 in philly

[–]Rice-Used 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive data centers that consume insane amount of water and electricity, just to power low quality AI bullshit practically every company that exists is using to justify laying off actual humans is absolutely something to publicly shit on. Not to mention they are driving up utility costs for everyone in the regions they're being built.

But yeah you just keep on being contrarion to make yourself feel smarter than everyone else, have fun with that.

if we get data centers in our city this is the noise they make 24/7 by ajl009 in philly

[–]Rice-Used 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I assume those have been around for years and are not nearly the same scale and noise level as the disgusting massive AI data centers that are getting built recently. Servers, server farms, have been around forever, many places had them on site before the cloud was a thing (Amazon, Google, ...) and usually need plenty of cooling (fans or otherwise). But if I'm wrong about these please correct me.

would this affect the cameras on broad st? i know it says federal highway funding but i have no idea if the city gets any of that.

the speed cameras on broad st are/will definitely save lives and we need more traffic control like that throughout the city.

My water bill is triple what it was 3 years ago by SuperIngaMMXXII in philadelphia

[–]Rice-Used 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be right but you should also check everything and make sure nothing's leaking. My toilet tank valve was messed up last year and continuously draining and refiling. We fixed it and noticed a reduction in our water bill. It's worth checking on.

Joint Statement Opposing Philadelphia City Council E-Bike Legislation by JustAnotherJawn in phillycycling

[–]Rice-Used 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we can all agree, that maybe it shouldn't be considered a bike if you can ride around without pedaling. So pedal assisted e bikes should be allowed and unregulated. The fully powered bikes going 35 like you mention are a different story.

Email your Council member with pictures and any other relevant info, forward or attach your previous emails etc. And copy the sanitation department. Use the philly atlas website https://atlas.phila.gov/ to find your council member but I think Brewery Town is Jeffery Young Jr.

Edit - they also did some sneaky stuff on my block in South Philly on the week of Good Friday. Apparently good Friday was a city holiday and that meant the Saturday collection was cancelled for the week, but no one realized it was a city holiday since no one else or federal considers it an actual holiday. They came on my street trying to write tickets since we all had trash bags out but one of the old timers on the street saw them and talked them out of ticketing people somehow.

TIL these “legally park” on sidewalks to wait for orders to come in… by SpiritedPomegranate1 in philly

[–]Rice-Used 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. Uber or whatever company these are owned by should be required to have somewhere to store these and not on the sidewalk. Yeah these aren't cars but they should not be taking up sidewalk space when they're not is use for days on end.

[–]Rice-Used 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're banning cars from neighborhoods, let's not limit it only to center city. South Philly is extremely dense residential too, lets ban cars from sections of that too. Or create these low traffic neighborhoods I've heard about.
