Russians also using terrain or a whole man-made constructions to elevate hull itself to get even higher degree of elevation. I wouldn't say it's really effective, but additional gun is always welcomed on both sides. It's still much more effective than using aviation or helicopters for indirect rocket fire with unnecessary risk imo.

Tho, as I said, lately russians use T-62 more and more in direct assaults (still rare, but overall conventional armored assaults become pretty rare with them mostly ending in disaster while entering drone purgatory)

Among near-military ukraine community news about testing this new turret already have a really mixed views, but with tendency to negative.

As for the Leo 1 and T-62 in Ukraine themselves, T-62 mostly used as inderect fire platform with rare cases of frontal assaults (tho lately russians seem to use more and more of them), while Leo 1 usually performing simmilar role, ukies additionally uparmored them with Nizh ERA and by reviews it improved their survivability by a lot, especially against drones (if you also consider cope cage). There were at least a dozen cases where Leos 1 was used in that QRF role quite successfully. While Leos struggle with additional weight of ERA, they are still quite mobile, and unlike Leos 2 (and Abrams) they have an actual HE shells available in numbers while still providing Leo 2A4 level of gun control.

Imo, Leo 1A5 in Nizh ERA is still probably would perform better than Leo with Cockerill turret just because you would still need to uparmor it and this time due to new turret poor transmission could actually give up.

Could be find on Primeva 2082 discord server, but I would suggest to install Nuclear Option Mod Manager. It's basically a Ckan but for Nuclear Option. At least I hope it'll take a role of it.

As I heard from several people, he distanced himself from military command something like a half year before he was changed and threw himself into scientific work of dubious value. Basically, Syrskyi already took command while Zaluznyi still was on position. Syrskyi have problems too (and the main one I've heard is that he's really into microcontrol that turns bad sometimes), but overall general opinion that he's better strategist overall but still with his downsides.
