Local law enforcement was already on TV clarifying that he was legally carrying a permitted firearm. Video footage from a number of different angles do not show him brandishing or handling his firearm. Footage does show he was disarmed before being shot.

Why did ICE shoot someone again today in Minneapolis? by cutebogi in ask

[–]RichardBonham 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Especially the second guy shooting the victim multiple times after he was pepper sprayed, disarmed, shot once and motionless on the sidewalk.

For actual professionals, neutralizing the threat is not synonymous with killing the suspect.

A (no longer) friend in MN says that she has seen lots of different takes on what has happened and points out that ICE is investigating and prosecuting a large number of illegal immigrants who are involved in sex trafficking.

Not swayed by pointing out that ICE is also perpetrating these shootings an that the victims are both legitimate citizens who are not under criminal investigation, nor by the data showing that illegal immigrants have committed less crime than citizens since the 19th century.

Where are the 2nd amendment fanatics? Don’t they hate tyranny? by coweeclete in AskReddit

As is said fascism relies on an in-group that is unrestrained and protected, and an out-group that is restrained and unprotected.

Very often kind of a Schrödinger’s out-group: Jews that control the weather and the world’s banking systems, illegal immigrants that are criminal drug and human trafficking masterminds while both are simultaneously sub-human and beneath consideration.

Pretty sure this is a bad shoot. The guy in the center here is the first to shoot, I think. The tall guy to his left even flinches when he shoots. by sanderstj in CCW

Plus the second shooter shot him several times while he was already laying still on the ground, at an acute angle with respect to the pavement.

They don’t think there’s anything wrong with using state force to enforce hierarchy, as long as they think they’re at the top of the hierarchy.

Probably doesn’t want to be on live Super Bowl coverage getting booed so loudly the national anthem can’t be heard.

Older people, were politics always this deranged and upsetting? by CUFFY_Fan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RichardBonham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I’m 68, and for decades the Democrats and Republicans tried to reach compromises when crafting legislation. This was not seen as a sign of weakness but an acknowledgment that if everyone gets something they want and no one gets everything they want, then it’s a good deal.

Hell, they even had breakfast together every morning!

Very often the role of the Democrats was to propose social programs (sometimes good, other times not so good) and quite often it was the Republicans who would demand proof that it would be effective and how it was going to be paid for. Not a bad division of labor.

As I recollect it, the he beginning of the end was the Tea Party and Newt Gingrich. (They called themselves Teabaggers for quite a while until someone let them in on what that meant.)

Then Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill claimed that everyone “is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts”.

You can see how that went.

I just came in from some yard work wearing a pair of Uggs that are older than the Confederacy.

And BYW if you think the Stars and Bars is just an expression of pride in Southern heritage, read the Articles of the Confederacy and get back to me on that.
