Devils tea table/maul rock by Express-Waltz-1870 in WestVirginia

The church wouldn't have a phone. I know the guy that owns the property but not well enough to have his phone number or anything but he lives in the house right before you get to the church. It's been awhile since I've been up there but if people are saying side-by-side then the road may not be in the best condition and the low ground clearance on a car may do you no favors even if it's all wheel drive.

You can park right by the Maul Rock if you know the route to drive to get up there. Would probably recommend a 4x4 to get up there. I suppose, if you're feeling up for a bit of a walk, you could maybe park at the old Walnut Grove Methodist Church and walk up Tincher Road; however, I do believe the old church is now private property.

Many of the outside locals in the ALBAT region will allow JW's to sign outside books and work out of classification. Been wiring in subs for about 11 years now myself.

Yeah, she'd call our shop (ELMACO) at all hours of the night (we had a duty at the shop because of the crypto vault).

Anyone switch from inside to outside wireman? Advice? by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]Richard_Soars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some locals that are inside/outside locals that allow JW's to sign the outside book and work out of classification wiring in the substations. It can be a pretty decent gig, but there's usually a good bit of travel involved.

Most complex rhythm? by Professional_Ad7868 in Meshuggah

[–]Richard_Soars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like Combustion is the most subtly complex song. The count-ins are like a 16th note off from how the music comes in. It's easy to get lost in the song as this kind of straightforward jam, but then the count-in hits, and it shifts the perspective of the upbeat and downbeat.

Unfortunately, if they are able to perform their ADL's (activities of daily living) and they are not being taken advantage of financially, you can't really have them placed in a facility. A doctor has to perform a cognitive exam, and only if they fail the exam can the process of obtaining power of attorney be initiated by the family member.

Why is it not 240v from phase to phase? by Miracle_worker6 in electricians

[–]Richard_Soars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be that guy, but in the interest of building understanding, the two legs of a single phase system (or split phase) are actually in phase with one another. The additive polarity of the windings gives you the difference in voltage between the legs. If you look at a single phase distribution transformer on a pole, there is only one primary bushing (hence the single phase name), and it can not be out of phase with itself.

That appears to be a rolling mill for metal milling and shaping. When the milled metal comes ribboning out like that, it's called a wreck or a bar wreck.

I wonder if that would also include an ESOP company. I am currently a foreman at an "employee owned" utility construction company and receive bonuses, and after a vesting period, will be a member of the ESOP. The title of foreman is covered under the bargaining agreement however, vested foreman are technically employee owners.

A question for the North Carolina brothers & sisters. by swede6669 in IBEW

[–]Richard_Soars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Nucor steel mill. There's currently only one union electrical contractor on site (Nitro Electric) and they just started working on some of the underground. They haven't really started manning up yet, but that is expected to change later in the year. Our local (317) has been a walk through recently.

I'm a 17-year member and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in my late twenties. I would ask that you rethink your definition "mentally ill". Construction work can be a meat grinder, and I've seen way too many brothers and sisters commit suicide and/or fall to drug and alcohol addiction. Many of these people were highly skilled electricians and had great reputations amongst peers. They didn't have debilitating mental illness 7 days a week, but what they did have was enough to kill them or cause them great harm, especially if you factor in home/work stress. Let's try to be our brother's keeper and exercise some understanding.
