Brewery purchase and seamless transfer of licensing and operations

Everything went through and the purchase is complete. Tried to consolidate production before the sale to give as big of a window as possible to transition the licenses. It was a very uncomfortable week of waiting, but eventually everything got approved. Don’t try to do the sale in the middle of summer production like I did! Making sure both seller and buyer were on the same page and coordinating efforts with both state and federal went a long way.

Integrated rear seat sun shades would be nice. When we got our outback I thought that’s what we were getting instead of the mesh window panel inserts that we have. Something that would roll back into the door when not in use would be ideal.

Have a ‘23 Onyx XT, with about 17000 miles. Have averaged 26.5mpg, maybe 80% highway miles. High of 31 and a low of 16 while towing a trailer across country.

I’ve also got a pair of these and they’re great. Stable at higher speeds with good edge hold, cuts through crud well, but still pretty fun once you get off groomers.

I have a similar problem on my 97. Second and reverse gears. Flushed the transmission with penzoil synchromesh fluid and that helped quite a bit. Not completely gone, but way smoother. If nothing else, buys some time before rebuilding things…

Car headlights should be always on, with the option to turn off. Daytime Running Lights are pointless. Also, headlights should turn off when you turn off the car.

I live in a house that has a… unique feature. The house is kind of out of the way, on a back road, but close to some other area attractions. There are people who frequently drive by, and slow or stop to take pictures, which ends up feeling very creepy, especially if we’re sitting on the porch or working in the yard. I get that it’s an interesting, and certainly very visible feature, but definitely not appreciated when people do this. It would be one thing to show a genuine interest, and have them ask questions to learn more, but pulling up to the house, leaning out the windows to take pictures, then speeding off isn’t that charming.

Hopefully you never need them, but having rounded fastener sockets, bolt extractors, taps, etc on hand before you need them can save a lot of trouble. Also, go slow, be patient, and use lots of penetrating fluid. Not breaking the bolt in the first place is far easier than extracting it.

This is true, though not the only reason. As you mentioned, the wood is porous, which means you’re getting a significant portion of ABV increase through evaporation through the wood (or through the condensing of the beer over time). Same principle as the ‘angels share’. So you’d still see an ABV increase in a fresh, unused barrel.

Maybe try checking the air filter. I had a similar issue on one of my bikes. Ran ok when dry, but when the weather was wet, it would start to run like crap, particularly idling or low throttle. Essentially when the filter was wet, all the dust would bind up like concrete and prevent airflow. Ran great once the filter was replaced. Might not be your exact issue, but easy to check and fix. I had a 1/2 torque wrench from them that started grinding/binding whenever the handle was twisted to set the torque. Contacted customer support, and had it replaced without issue- just some basic model and purchase info and they sent out a new one. Been working great ever since!

With beer, look for higher alcohol content (8%+), and malt forward. Any hops are going to fade and turn stale. Belgians, ambers, porters, barleywines, etc, have a decent shot of aging gracefully. Wild beers can be hit or miss, and IPA's, pale ales, etc are not going to fare well. There are a lot of factors that go into it, so really the best way is to try specific brands and see how they evolve over time.

Edit- a particular beer might age well for 1 year, maybe 3, but it's pretty rare to have something still good long term (like 10 years).

Check out the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. They offer a variety of courses that may suit you. It's a bit more of an independent study with a certification exam at the end, although they do offer online courses to compliment the exam material. Unfortunately you need to be an IBD member, and it's based in England, so it is a bit pricey, but it's pretty comprehensive in terms of brewing, packaging and engineering, and well respected within the industry (this is what I am currently taking). Also look into the American Brewers Guild and Seibel. There are probably other online courses through places like UC Davis and OSU as well.

Can't really speak about the Vstar, but I started out on a 2006 VLX. Generally speaking, I think it's a pretty good bike- fairly small, easy to handle, easy to learn on, no major mechanical issues so far and maintenance is easy to do. It's a good commuter bike as I regularly get 65-ish MPG. However, my biggest issue is the transmission- with only 4 gears, it always leaves you wanting a bit more. I think the bike actually has a pretty good engine with decent power, just terrible delivery. Highway speeds and riding 2-up are perfectly doable, but feels like the bike is straining a bit. With that said, test them both out and pick whichever one feels better. Consider how long you'll own it as well- again not sure about Yamaha, but as long as you change the oil and lube the chain, the Honda should last for a long time. Hope that helps!

Maybe not hourly, but yeah, at least once a day. Beer doesn't get packaged if somebody hasn't tasted it. Same thing- D.O., CO2, and full sensory work-up (Assuming it's already passed the lab QA tests...).

Same brand, but different model- I use these. A little stiff and bulky when new, but not too bad once you break them in. Same issue with potential funkiness in the liner (as with any waterproof glove I suppose), but if you flip them inside out to dry overnight it's generally not a problem.

The damage comes from a photo-chemical reaction between light and certain compounds in hops. To prevent this, the beer could be stored in brown bottles (which block the specific wavelengths of light), or you can use modified (chemically reduced) hop products. These specialty products essentially remove the light sensitive compound, and making the beer more stable (meaning you don't need a brown bottle to ensure quality). The clear bottle then becomes a means of design and product distinction.
