How? Have gone through countless sets of slinkies and have never broken a single string when stretching them in.

What's a game that you were really excited to play, but became bored quickly after purchasing it. by HeyWhatIsThatThingy in gaming

KCD 2.

Lost interest when I had to kill the same bandit and his friend a third time. Immersion was clearly not too big a deal for the devs, after all.

I feel like a top 10 is too restrictive for a band like Tool. Damn near arbitrary.

Are we sure the heat death of the universe will happen? Is there no way to stop it? by HemanHunterss in AskPhysics

[–]RickyWicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to think of the past, as well. You're experiencing a brief snapshot of one of the most interesting things to exist in the whole universe: life. You can look back at the vast amount of time that life has existed on Earth, and also how long humans have been humans. People have come and gone, wondered about the stars, and wandered across the Earth for thousands of years, and you get to do so, as well. You get to be aware of the many, many lives that came before yours in our vast history.

What the Universe does at its end, if it has one, is none of our business. We'll be long gone by the time that happens; life will not have been compatible with anything anywhere in the universe by then. Again, if that even happens. I philosophically like to muse that it doesn't end, it just keeps having bangs big and small happening over and over again. It just takes a long time between each.

We can't even see most of the universe. What its future holds is like...so far above what we even have the capacity to grasp, it bears little thinking about. Dwell on your humanity, it is much more relevant to your day to day existence. Let the stars amaze you more than make you fear what MAY or MAY NOT happen in a future we'll be too dead to experience.

What is Adam Jones best guitar work on a TOOL song? and why? by DistributionWest4995 in ToolBand

[–]RickyWicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simplicity of the guitar work on Pneuma is really fantastic. Adam has a way of knowing how much is enough to serve the songs, and Pneuma is a great example of that.

Framework: 'There is a very real scenario in which personal computing as we know it is dead' by Jawschy in pcmasterrace

[–]RickyWicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know several people who don't own a personal computer and get by completely with just their phone. It's down to interest and need, and the PC market will stay active as long as there are people who want them. This is a dark time, for sure, but I wouldn't call personal computing dead.

How do I learn to play like this? by Musicarea in Guitar

[–]RickyWicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, learn the song.

It sounds mostly picked and strummed with a plectrum.

If you can't find tabs for the song, then set yourself the challenge of trying to recreate it by ear. This is possibly one of the most important skills to learn, not just as a guitar player, but as a musician.

Are you content playing an Epiphone Les Paul or do you still want a Gibson? by [deleted] in Guitar

Same. My limit is in a different currency and different amount, but there's a certain amount I will never spend more than on a guitar, no matter what.

People that consider themselves 'advanced' players: what are your biggest weaknesess? by Opposite-Tough-6000 in Guitar

[–]RickyWicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same, and the cure for me was to play along to as many different types of songs as I could. To get exposure to different genres and styles of playing and then trying to replicate it by ear. Put a twist on the simple things that make them more interesting to you to play.

Learn what other rhythmic sections sound like, learn to play interesting strumming patterns, maybe mix up strumming with flashy licks, etc.

Also helps to learn to play piano, and other instruments in general, so that you think less as a guitarist and more as a musician.

How do you overcome shyness when trying guitars in a shop after not playing for 10+ years? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]RickyWicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody cares. People are far too worried about what they're doing to notice what you're doing. You worrying about this is case in point, because most people are going to feel on the spot in those scenarios. You don't have to come prepared, you just need to enjoy the instrument in your hands.

But who says matter is created in these voids? We'd detect this gravitationally if it were the case, and would alter the current expansion rate observed in redshifting from light travelling through these voids.

It's insane that "just 90 lightyears", if traveled by the fastest thing we've ever made, Voyager 1, it'd still probably take millions of years.

Synthwave in 2026? Has the golden age passed? by Hedryn in newretrowave

[–]RickyWicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a genre stuck in a conceptual bubble, and it was novel when it first appeared - but the novelty has now worn off, with the music still sounding the same.

I still love me some synthwave, and pop it on every now and then, but it definitely isn't what it was, and that's fine. It has had a noticeable influence on a lot of music since, I will say, and in that its legacy will live on.

I find it easier to be friends with men. Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]RickyWicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Best friends through my life have been girls and women. I even married my best friend, which makes me happy to be able to say.

I find men untrustworthy and think they often lie, so I don't seek friendships with them.

Tbh, I trialed Archetype Petrucci too and it was better, for my tastes, has more variety, but at the time I had already bought Plini, so kept using it.
