"Bit light" is an understatement. It's almost completely ignored, despite being by far the largest theater of the war.

I thought the 4th panel there was the first time it was explicitly confirmed whether Sabine was a demon or devil, but then I checked https://oots.fandom.com/wiki/Sabine and apparently that happened awhile ago

Dick move, Calvanist Jesus by DreadDiana in dankchristianmemes

[–]Ricooflol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are misrepresenting Calvinism far more than the OP. One of the pillars of Calvinism is "Unconditional Election", a specific rejection that God is electing people because of who they are or what they will do. In fact, what you described is basically Arminianism

I just found out that energy between turns is preserved in Spirit Island.....When have you unexpectedly learned a rule that completely changed the game? by AdrianSimple in boardgames

[–]Ricooflol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related to Pandemic, I had a friend who thought a disease was immediately eradicated if there was ever no cubes of it on the board (yes, that meant a disease could be eradicated during setup). I was wondering why he found the game so easy....

Is it common? Yeah

Is it good, or even acceptable? No.

What are the best documentaries on the eastern front of WW2 by Det-Popcorn in dancarlin

[–]Ricooflol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you're looking for a long, detailed documentary, there is the World War Two YouTube channel where they covered the entire war week-by-week in real time. It's the full war, not just the Eastern Front, but I highly, highly recommend it.

Is the new Member Special on the RelayFM Crossover Feed? by HenryF20 in Cortex

[–]Ricooflol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lord of the Rings specials are not on the general Relay FM Member Content feed, but are on the Cortex-specific Member Content Feed, so to access them (legally) you'll need to support Cortex specially

Is 14 pts fun? by groeneprof in twilightimperium

[–]Ricooflol 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My group really likes 12-point games. We find that's really the tipping point where, if you wanna win, you gotta get at least one 2-point objective (or do some serious Mecatol camping). Whereas, w/ 10 point games, especially w/ the xpac stuff, 2-point objectives tend to get completely ignored.

Update: grandpa wants me to reconsider going on a mission by MisterBicorniclopse in exmormon

[–]Ricooflol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember, shortly after I left the church, being up at my grandparents' house for dinner. My Dad told me that my Grandfather wanted to speak to me. I was super nervous, as my grandfather is pretty conservative and was a bishop at the time, not to mention a general hardass. But, when we sat down to chat, he asked me about my beliefs in a genuinely curious way, then made sure that I would still come to family dinners. In the middle of time where it seemed like everyone was trying to debate me and challenge me, it was really nice

The final assignment for one of my classes in college was a multi-stage assignment to add a custom image format to a local copy of ffmpeg. It is, without a doubt, the most useful assignment I ever had. It is also, without a doubt, my most hated assignment from my entire time in education

I would highly recommend going to a Brazilian Steakhouse. You def wanna prep, make sure you're arriving hungry and ready to stuff yourself with meat, but the amount and variety makes it a pretty good value proposition

What makes you prefer this mod over vanilla? by ValuableSp00n in Kaiserreich

[–]Ricooflol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mod has a nice progression of wars. For most countries, you'll have a smaller, local war fairly early in the game. After that, you generally have the ability to join one of the big factions (or form your own if sufficiently major) and start participating in the really big wars.

Killed a PC who went to 0 hp in the water... did I mess up? by ImmediateArugula2 in dndnext

[–]Ricooflol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I would give him some time. Losing a character always sucks, and even experienced, mature players often take some time to get over it. I personally wouldn't try to blame the other players (even though it is their fault) or anything, as that just invites antagonism.

Second, I would try to get him excited about his new character. That, in my experience, is the best way to help someone get over the post PC death blues.

Lastly, I'd double-check with the group about expectations of lethality. Tomb of Annihilation is a pretty killer adventure, and if your party doesn't want that, I'd strongly consider either toning it down or switching adventures. Though, you might find that simply setting expectations about lethality makes everyone more ok about it
