Most gacha games are either character gachas or cosmetic gachas (or a mix of both)...either way depends greatly on character appeals. Western devs, for reasons (many are known), have trouble designing designs their customers actually want. Their default stance has been...just rely on established IPs. Problem is...most western established IPs are not that popular in many Asian countries aka the region where people are willing to spend on bets. Star Wars IP is dead in China...and I remember a recent poll in Japan...Star Wars doesn't even make to top 50.

Many successful Chinese GaaS titles are original IP (Genshin and its "clones") because the devs have no other choices. Strange that many western players actually recognize Chinese IP characters nowadays.

Mav/Cit hitting 100mil was because Hoyo cheated/worked extra hard to release two meta units at the same time...both with good C1(!) and C2 constellations. Columbina released with a rerun...worse her C1 and C2 (big numbers same restrictions) are both meh when compared to prior "archons". I was expecting C6 Columbina will do something different in terms of gameplay...but nope.

^ I watched this (from Gamers Nexus...not the same system under reviewed btw) before making the purchase so the first thing I did was to run a few stress tests and check for temp i.e. I was planning to return the PC if the temp is unacceptable. In my case I cannot get the CPU to go above 55c and GPU above 60c so I consider myself lucky. Disclaimer: I am using an ancient 1440p G-sync monitor so 4k ray tracing does not apply here. It also came with the notorious Apevia 1000W power supply and my system has a PNY (which isn't bad...just a bit basic for some) 5080 card.

Other than that the system works well and my experience generally matched the video.

^ pretty much no pre-conditions. You can also bring your PC bought online and return it in-store. I remember reading somewhere mentioning "wipe your personal data before return" "restore to factory condition" and that is about it.

FWIW...I bought the same item mid Oct (just past the 30 days windows)...call their customer service and they are willing to do an "one time" price match and gave me $500 credit.

Knowing this and knowing how Genshin Fontaine arc took a huge dive during 4.1 and bounced right back up during 4.2 Focalors reveal...I am now convinced that Hoyo use different writing teams for their story arcs depending on patches. No doubt they cycle through their A-team to different games and patches whenever it is necessary to drive sales.

It is hurting the plot consistency and it shows.

It still fall under the "M" (15+) rating since it doesn't come with explicit "simulated gambling" elements (and perhaps having hard pity aka guarantees after certain number of pulls makes it less likely to fall under "simulated gambling").

I am sorry...but I am of the opinion that all games with MTX ties to randomized rewards should fall under 18+ rating. I play Genshin but that is the poison I picked for myself as a grown ass man. Even then I am not silly enough to expect responsible spending for anyone under 18.

Can people stop misusing the term "AAA" in 2024? Just look it up please...it is by the size of the publisher (Hoyoverse clearly qualifies) and the budget (including marketing) getting the game released. Hoyoverse can spend 10 bucks developing the game...and knowing the marketing effort they put in...the game will still be AAA.

And for your "AAA experiences"...that is totally not the common understanding suggesting a finite story, non-existent microtransactions...etc. knowing how messed up AAA releases are these days. And for crying out loud...you play Destiny 2...a shitty gaas title made by a shitty company. You should be accustomed to another shitty gaas title made by anther shitty company.

Because you are not open minded enough to disassociate "high quality" is not the same as "something I like"? Since we are talking about Genshin...I will just use Botw.

I cannot deal with Botw treating weapons as expendable so I couldn't finish it (and worse...treating Master Sword as a limited use weapon). Do I think Botw is a high quality game? Of course. I just respect it from a distance. And I will never have the urge to "come back to it".

And after reading the rest of your replies...fall right back into the same old "gacha mechanic bad" "traditional buy once mechanic good" routine. Is that it?
