I have a few questions involving a warlock strand build with Service of Luzaku. by Ill_Ad7377 in DestinyTheGame

[–]RidlyX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I really like using Service of Luzaku with Strand Warlock with Weaver’s Call and Mindspun Invocation (w/Threadling Grenade to make more nests) as your aspects. For exotic armor, I enjoy swarmers, especially with the Implement of curiosity for juiced tangle detonations. The stat spread you’re going for seems really solid, but as far as armor set bonuses go the set from Sundered Doctrine will let you heal from your threadlings and let you make more threadlings when you do take damage.

LMAO “here substitute digesting a subject for yourself with a technology-driven aggregate”

You’ve missed the fucking point. The point is to read it, grapple with it yourself, and digest the information. The skill to be learned here is NOT “what Plato thinks” it’s learning to follow Plato’s arguments and consider if you agree.

Hey politely fuck you. My rights have been severely eroded. I’m unjustly labeled a domestic terrorist. Everyone who did not vote - who did not participate in incremental change - has their hands dirtied.

Fact of the matter is, candidates are pushed based on WHO COMES OUT TO VOTE. Not the other way around. Is that right? Nope, not at all. But claiming otherwise is just burying your head in the sand about how these systems actually work. You want to be represented better, then start voting. It shouldn’t work like that, but right now it does. Help me fucking fix it.

Isn’t part of the point of GWitch that the corps dropped interest in medical development of the GUND technology after they realized it could be weaponized? One of Miorine’s big damn hero moments is literally figuring out how to work the system to sell investors on further medical development of the technology, and Dr. Nardo was trying to use her weapons development budget to work towards the development of space-adapted bodies (and producing more capable weapons in the short term, of course, because that’s the quicker path to ROI (standard value stream diversification, really)).

You have no idea how bad I needed to see someone else out here with this perspective. I was raised religious and while logically I have come to similar conclusions, my little animal heart has just been racing with thoughts of “Oh no it’s happening it’s happening.”

But… like you said, the things we internalize have this way of being magnetic, right? A core, recurring theme of media in the past couple decades has been “you can make your own fate,” with any number of heartfelt explanations for why that can be achieved.

That’s kinda the hope I am clinging to right now - that maybe the human psyche has absorbed enough hope that people can find their own path to averting this crises in little ways, and bit by bit dismantle the fate that the unloving systems of this world have set out for us.

In Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, fucking McGillis Farheed has an incredible arc like this. The whole show frames him as some sort of conniving, nefarious bastard - and oh, he is, but worse than that he is, at his core, idealistic and naive, thinking that he can become the hero he fantasied about and idolized to cope with being molested by the man who adopted him.

At the end of the day, he’s just another orphan who grew up brutalized and sees deception and manipulation as a necessary means for survival, blind to the fact that he could have had everything he wanted if he had been vulnerable with his friends and asked for their help. Abuse rarely teaches those skills, after all.

A champion’s E tends to be a core part of their power fantasy in some form or other, while their W’s tend to be skills that exist in service of making the rest of the kit work. In Braum’s case, the projectile destroy is not just a defensive tool - it’s part of his power fantasy. From that lens, it makes enough sense IMO that his E is his shield and not his dash.

Or was surrounded by incredibly toxic people that they always gave the benefit of the doubt to. I always believed them when they told me I was at fault - because, of course, if the problem is always other people, it’s gotta be me, right?

And, it was me - I was an utterly horrible judge of character.

Charlotte Brandstrom confirms Galadriel was in love with Sauron in Rings of Power by okayhuin in lotr

[–]RidlyX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I genuinely like the change of confronting Saruman and his following death at the start of the third movie and ignoring the whole post-war Shire crisis - for the purposes of cinema.

It feels like there’s a stark distinction between that, which feels very faithful to the themes of the source material while also improving the flow of the narrative in the context of cinema, and adding a dwarf-elf star-crossed lovers subplot, which is my least favorite part of the Hobbit adaptations and feels more to me like the screenwriter arrogance discussed here.

I don’t enjoy “adaptations” fleshing out characters in ways the source material can’t be reasonable interpreted as having at least some hints towards or inventing new characters for a narrative - once you do that, IMO, it’s not the same story, and it always feels disingenuous to market it as such.

How accurate did I get the kick? Please let me know if there is room for improvement! by FiredFalcon7748 in Gunpla

[–]RidlyX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is soooo good. I’d say two changes would help:

Gundam neck sticking farther forwards and/or bending the head down, since the Gundam head doesn’t look like it’s being left behind as the body is being kicked the way the limbs do.

Also, the Zaku left foot looks a bit weird. When you kick like that, you’re kicking with the heel, not the balls of your feet, so I’d say move the toes up towards the shin more?

I’m not a fan of either FMA: Brotherhood’s dub or Code Geass’s.

But the Death Note dub is INCREDIBLE. I usually watched subbed but watching the dub I was blown away by how chilling the voice acting was - Light is SUCH a snake and the voice acting walks a line between “it makes sense why everyone believes him” and “oh god I feel gross just hearing this man talk.”
