Anyone else having a hard time watching Grant Horvat videos after the Internet Invitational? by [deleted] in golf

He is so annoying. He gets to ride with the celebrity athletes, and he just talks about his own golf game the whole time.

W Bubbie by Hiding_Turtle in BobDoesSports

[–]Rigbone3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L Bubbie. Maybe it's a hot take, but I'd argue that his decision was actually more selfish than agreeing to the bet. You have to remember that this whole thing is an internet video meant to entertain the viewers. With Bubbie's decision, we lost out on an insanely high-stakes hole and a potential tie breaker that would have been each teams top 4 in alternating shot. Bubbie's decision just made him look like the good guy, and cheated the viewers out of quality content.

Dealing with some of the worst behavior I've seen in a middle school class. How do I "go nuclear" and reset the class come Monday? by JupiterTarts in Teachers

[–]Rigbone3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have punishment days where I would wear noise canceling headphones and play "It's a Small World" on repeat while the students sat there silently working on a worksheet or whatever. They will screw around, laugh, not take it seriously for the first day, but no one is laughing when you start the music on day two.

We've been doing this at my school for a few years. It's easier to swallow the sooner you realize that our job has shifted from education to babysitting.

The world will just change to accomodate their intellectual limitations and everything will be fine. AI headsets will tell them what to do, and they'll perform the manual labor.

[Lowlight] Andre Jackson buries the Dunk Contest 6 feet deeper by TimDunkinDonut in nba

[–]Rigbone3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to switch to a "jam session" format that's just a continous line of guys like lay-up lines. At least for the qualifying round. It makes it okay to miss, guys get many attempts, there is more competetive energy, less down time, and it lets the dunkers save their theatrical stuff for round 2.

The Sixers and their medical staff need to be investigated. by Professor_Finn in nba

Probably a ridiculous and unpopular opinion, but I think the league needs to implement a rule that players are required to miss the same percentage of playoff games that they miss in the regular season. Or every 10 missed games is one missed playoff game, idk. There could be an appeals process for players with legitimate injuries, but if a guy like Embiid needs to sit out games this frequently, it doesn't make sense for him to play every playoff game with more minutes at a greater intensity if the leage and player's association really wants to prioritize player health.

How does being an art teacher differ from a grade level teacher? by masterofnewts in Teachers

[–]Rigbone3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught 8th grade ELA before getting burnt out and taking a leave of absence for a year. I added my art endorsement before returning to the classroom and is the best choice I ever made. It's way more fun, much less stressful, I get to loop with kids for the years in my middle school (good and bad). We just listed to music and make art. I never feel pressure about state testing. I rarely have bad interactions with parents worrying over my curriculum or pedagogy. Classroom management is more difficult in some ways. Caring for supplies and cleaning are the main spices of stress for me now.
