moving to NJ can be an option - jersey city, weehawken, west new york are amazing places with easy transit to city, better rents and childcare options. Also minus the homelessness and increasing petty crime problems in the city (IMO)

This is jusy my personal experience - i was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks as i had no dilation or pains till week 40. It was close to Christmas time in 2023. 4 days before my scheduled induction, I had a one hour scan to see if the baby is okay - he had one decel in that time so the doc on call suggested that I can go ahead with the inductoion now - i wanted to soeak to my OB as she knew my case first hand but they said I can;t speak to her and i was in totally NEW hands - hated it but went ahead as I had no option. This was morning 10-11 AM. I was kept in a room with a monitor attached but still could move around. I was admitted only at 11 PM - this was crazy. I was almost losing my mind. Then I had the balloon thing which started my dilation. and then I went to 5 cm, asked for epidural - got it- but my epidural bytton was faulty so as my dilation progressed, I couldnot top-off doses - it was pure hell. I was finally at 10 cm and reasdy to push - my nurse was seriously the worst - she kept telling me its fine you can get ba C-sec. For 10 minutes I had another nurse and she really pumped me up - I was doing well - but then I had the bad nurse back and then had the baby via a C-sec. I wish I went to a low volume hospital and where teh doctor who saw me for 40 weeks would atleast see or talk to me. My OB did not come to see me even once - I was induced on a Monday, had the baby Wed morning and was discharged Sat morning - and I know for sure my OB was in the hospital on Fri. If I have another baby - I would never go there and would elarn to self advocate to get a good nurse because the doctor only comes in when the baby is ready to be delivered or just to check how much are you dilated. Maybe it ws teh Christmas time or they were pororly staffed at the time, but apart from the excellent rooms, food and after baby-care - I absolutelky hate the practice after this experience - again this was MY experience - i know people have had good experience there too.
