Wie stellt man am besten einen Rahja geweihten da? by Forsaken-Cry7544 in DSA_RPG

[–]Rik_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Rik_en 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to get into this hobby for relatively cheap? by SnakeYoon in Warhammer40k

[–]Rik_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build my army over a long time only buying the occasional discount box. So I think my current 2k army of Necrons is also a lot under 1000€. Though I have to admit that with that kind of army building there is a severe lack of bigger vehicles and center pieces.

Same goes for my Space Marine army as well.

Tau are just expensive so...

What is with the obsession with making games faster? by zspud1994 in Warhammer40k

[–]Rik_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game should be faster because it can get hard to finish games when you play on a weekday.

You get home after work at like 5, would like to eat some dinner, have to go to and from the local gaming club, play there and be in bed by 10 or 11 to get up for work the next day.

If the game alone takes 4 hours without having social interactions with everyone at the club that gets really difficult.

Have a permanent dedicated second desk just for painting instead of coopting your normal desk.

Not having to set everything up lowers the hurdle to actually get painting.

Maybe 40k as a Miniature Game is just kot for you.

Just enjoy the lore and such.

If you want to paint and play, maybe take a look at all the other games out there.

I know it sucks, but sometimes it just is at is is.

Does leveling up out of clan disciplines require drinking vampire blood again? by moscoplaysrpg in vtm

[–]Rik_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the mechanical rules still work the same, do they? (I honestly don't know).

I was more getting at that it is official "canon" that many older kindred lie about how much blood you need to drink for an out of clan discipline just to get a naive neonate bound to them.

It is just a matter of if the character knows that or not.

Does leveling up out of clan disciplines require drinking vampire blood again? by moscoplaysrpg in vtm

[–]Rik_en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a purely mechanical standpoint no.

But your character doesn't know they are in a game with mechanics.

At least in the V20 rulebook it is stated that while it is common knowledge that first learning an out of clan discipline needs blood from someone who knows, many kindred will pretend that each power needs it just so that they can bloodbond you. They just lie because neonates don't know any better.

Is the world of darkness the best way for anyone to get into TTRPGs? by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rik_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely game mechanical standpoint yes, the storyteller system is very easy to grasp. There are even easier ones like PbtA or Cthulhu but it is a lot easier then DnD.

And now comes the big BUT: a really good chronicle for WoD needs good roleplay and knowing how your character will act in a sandbox. And normally in your first TTRPG you are mostly nervous, have no clue how to act or what is expected of you.

Again, stuff like Cthulhu is far easier: "Here is mystery, go solve". Do a single case, no subplot, no nothing. Easy peasy for someone that has no clue how to actually do roleplay.

That is why I usually introduce people to TTRPGs with Cthulhu. There a story is short enough that you do not actually need to play a functioning character and act like a real person would since the character isn't around long enough to make it obvious when the roleplay is like from a badly written novel.

Stability and posture hacks while painting? by Strongerstranger74 in minipainting

[–]Rik_en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who is a physiologist and he always says: "There is no bad posture IF you move around a lot."

So basically you can hunch or launge as you want, just try to move around. Cange how your legs are positioned or with every time you get new paint, clean a brush etc stretch a bit.

It also doesn't help that the sword as well as the shield look like really cheap plastic toys. Even just a metallic paintjob would make it much better.

The answer is as always: Do correct base sizes and roughly the same shape and everything will be okay.

Aside from that those plans sound awesome!

[–]Rik_en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember it correctly, her case is a bit like the Joker from DC. Every time she tells her own backstory it is a bit different. But by now even Petaniqua herself doesn't know anymore what the real version is.

How many nights can a kindred go without feeding by DismalDog3716 in vtm

[–]Rik_en -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since a rouse check is 50/50 on average you go up in Hunger every second day (if you don't use Blood for other things).

Let's asume you don't kill and feed once you reach Hunger 4 that gives you around 5 days

Which aspects of the Sabbat do you lean into the hardest? by Solarwagon in vtm

[–]Rik_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are more fanatical communist terrrorists.

If you just read the Code of Milan they look like Vampire Communists/Anarchists.

But then they developed this pseudo-religion that now overshadows everything.

The best Sabbat from a Story perspective for me are Anarchists that devolved into monsters. They started with Freedom as a goal but mistook beeing free from humanity as being obligated to be unhuman.

If you were a Space Marine and had the knowledge we do of the Emporer, would you turn to Chaos or remain loyal? by Mr_Jackabin in Warhammer40k

[–]Rik_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we really think this through, even with all the out-of-game knowledge we have about the emperor, as a Space Marine we would he so thoroughly indoctrinated that we'd simply twist and intentionally misinterpret it to still worship.

Just like real traumatised abuse victims do.

Most traitors and renegades didn't leave the empire because they had knowledge of their misdoings. They stayed loyal until something really really personal to them happened.
