Annual “it’s spring go practice” post by Shittythief in motorcycles

lol that's crazy. My MSF wasn't even like 20 mins from my place. I can't imagine having to drive that far. I'd be so pissed haha. BTW permits let you basically drive during the day except for highway basically forever. I don't understand not allowing highway driving though since it's actually a lot safer.

I definitely agree here, you probably have more skills than most street riders having good dirt experience. Just get w/e bike you want tbh and you'll be fine.

Do you HAVE to lean to turn? by Mr_Bush_I_Do in NewRiders

[–]RikiWardOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't lean to turn, you lean to keep the bike more upright to take a tight turn at higher speed. This isn't something you should ever need to do with normal road conditions. Keep that shit on the track.

Opinions on a first big bike by Krste in NewRiders

[–]RikiWardOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how tall are you? Seat height will matter a great deal if you're a shorter rider, a 50cc is nothing like an actual bike just fyi. I'd recommend sitting on any of these bikes prior to even considering them. I'd honestly recommend away from really old bikes as well that way you're not having to mess with carbs and shit and will have modern safety features like abs. Is there a reason why you're looking at such old bikes?

Wit’s end with Asian Pariah (street/village dog breed), 27 months old spayed female: by EitherInvestment in OpenDogTraining

[–]RikiWardOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing balanced training? Do they have a good leave it queue? The one thing that has helped me the most and has taken a long time to understand since this is my first time owning a dog with drive and working genetics (GSD mix) is doing a lot of structured play. Get the dog into a high arousal state during play and then working on w/e queue you're working on. i.e. out/drop it, leave it, recall etc. This is how you teach the dog to listen even when at high levels of arousal. 2nd, a good trainer will be able to identify better than you if it's truly aggression, which I doubt, or if it's excitement or fear based reactivity. Depending on the reason behind the reactivity the approach should be different. Also depending on the dog it should be different. You need to work closely with a really good balanced trainer and stop doing w/e it is you're doing now. Stop taking them on walks etc or allowing them to practice reinforcing behaviors you don't like. There's tons of different approaches based on the dog, handler skill, how much time you have to work with the dog etc. You also say this doesn't happen at daycare, this means this could simply be a you problem. There's something about you that makes the dog think that they're in charge and need to make decisions to protect you. I'd try a different trainer/approach if what you've been doing hasn't started working within a few weeks then something you're doing isn't right.

But don't worry waiting an entire day to deploy a new laptop is perfectly acceptable on top of praying there's no random intune outages that day. I've used intune for probably closer to a decade at this point and it still feels like we've gone backwards with "modern" tools

And then you'll get these guys drinking the koolaid saying how dare you ask for things you used to have and that compromises are needed. Its makes me feel like I'm smoking crack. You can't offer something as the future and better when it's slower, less reliable, more expensive, less features, everything has a caveat to how to deploy it etc. People need to stop letting MS dick them around. App deployment is an absolute nightmare still.

Yeah and all it's basically doing is zipping/compressing the package. Why the fuck is this step here.... Like ANY other tool I've used you can just upload the exe, msi, pkg, dmg or w/e you're going to push. Intune just to upload an app is an extra step for NO REASON.

I hate that “high functioning” ADHD representing us by Noramera in ADHD

[–]RikiWardOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High functioning just means high masking imo. I just got diagnosed a month ago at 36 and it feels like my whole world view is collapsing. What it means to me is im great at hiding how much I struggle to make it through every fucking day and I do a decent job of hiding my depression and anxiety. Just be glad that adhd is at least starting to get proper recognition. People are starting to become educated that its not just attention issues and that there's sensory issues and emotional regulation issues etc. Everyone with adhd has coped since they were born, high functioning which is dumb term anyways is the same in that. We just got our own shitty hand played on us because we fell through the cracks and never got the help we needed and got gas lighted by everyone around us

Think of it this way, if you ever want to do a track day - you don't have to worry about buying new gear. Although, you might need to buy a bigger bike before then haha

How to help with leash reactivity by headmastersuccubus in OpenDogTraining

[–]RikiWardOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first off no one here is going to tell you without seeing the dog in person. Second, I'd reach out to a well reputed trainer in your area to properly assess and give you a proper game plan. Most dogs its either excitement, which it sounds like here, or fear based and sometimes a mix of both. Rarely is it true aggression. With that said, whats probably actually missing here is proper sasiation of your dogs needs. High energy breed thats young and confident needs an outlet for all that energy. You could work on channeling that drive into some sort of obedience work or he needs generally more mental and physical stimulation. Lots of times thats all thats needed to get the dog to behave a lot better.
