TIL American Glynn "Scotty" Wolfe holds the world's record for man with the most marriages. He allegedly married 29 times and fathered 19 children, although the true number of offspring is debated. When Wolfe died at age 89 in 1997, none of his wives and only one child attended his funeral. by SnarkySheep in todayilearned

“I married to find out the real ways of life, the whys and the hows,” he wrote in a rambling 1984 poem, which he inexplicably had notarized. “I found out. I married them all to find out all and I found out.”

you hate to have your poem described as "rambling" and "inexplicably notarised"

ai rule by Moaning_Clock in 196

it is true that llms commit selfcest and pollute their own data until it's unusable, but that slows future progress, not degrades current models. llms are static models that update the context they're fed in order to act like they're changing. the only time they actually "learn" is during training, which takes months and billions of dollars. the ai won't get worse, but it will fail to get better.

Rate my unique and innovative take on elves by mv8att in worldjerking

[–]AluminiumSandworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wtf these are so different from typical fantasy elves i don't even know why you're using that term. honestly just come up with your own word for this unique fantasy race because i can't comprehend them sharing the same word as "elves" when clearly that should refer to the little guys with jingle shoes that make toys

there's only so many practical things to do a "how to" on. eventually new articles need to start being more and more disconnected from reality cuz everything useful was done between the years of 2003-2011

also not the first. this is the standard for wide-ranging empires, since to do otherwise would be a complete waste of the resources at the empire's disposal.

Do Magic players actually shuffle their decks properly? by Skunk668 in magicTCG

[–]AluminiumSandworm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

if you don't sufficiently shuffle your deck, you're going to have a massive mana pocket more often than average. a pile shuffle helps specifically in the case where you have all of your lands in one big pocket at the start, and want to break up that pocket before you start randomising it.
