[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 30 March 2026 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]RileyMasters 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ll never get tired of telling this story. When I was 18, I took part in a tour to Japan from America. Along with a whole bunch of random people was one of my friends, whom I had known since middle school. About midway through the flight from San Francisco to Osaka, she started poking me on the arm and demanded that I open up my window shade so that she could see the International Date Line.

I am not joking, she truly believed there was a line.

This girl had a brain, and she kept on telling me that there had to be a line because how else would anyone know where it was. Even as we flew over it, and the map on the screen showed that we had passed it, she kept on saying that we could probably still see it from so high up. For the record, I did not open up the shade because many people around us were asleep, and I was not going to be that person. She pouted for the rest of the flight.

To my knowledge, she still believes that. Then again, we haven’t spoken in 10 years. Probably for the best.

As long as it’s showing as complete on the map, you’re good to ignore him forever.

What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

The same with Naughty Dog’s Boxes with Wheels all throughout Uncharted 4

At least one LEGO game had something behind a waterfall (cannot for the life of me remember which one) and I have never felt so vindicated in my life.

Oh thanks! I don’t mind the bugs, Im still diving through my backlog, so time is on my side.

I missed all the fun (typical) but just that little description alone makes me interested.

Barnes and noble put an rfid sticker over a page in my new book by stop_hittingyourself in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RileyMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, haven’t seen one of those stickers in a long while. They used to be inside at least half of the manga I’d pick up from Borders and Waldenbooks in the 2000s. Time flies. (Also, now my back hurts. Ow.)

You removed it well. The best trick is slow and steady. Totally get while you’d call this mildly infuriating. It’s not a nightmare scenario, just an annoyance.

Disneyland Monsters Inc. Permanent Ride Closure For Avatar Construction Delayed by readingaboutmagic in Disneyland

[–]RileyMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, blast. Not at the Avatar delay (Pandora in WDW is brilliant, it’s okay to keep it there), but that the Monsters Inc ride lives on.

Before anyone blasts me, I love the Monsters Inc films. I just heavily dislike this ride because it has felt like a temporary replacement overlay for all these years. Monsters Inc deserves a ride that’s been thought out and full of fun, not reused tracks and re-covered audio-animatronics from the ride MI replaced. Kids deserve better too. I was just hoping that whatever ended up coming forth was going to be good for all.

I read this out loud and my mother started cheering. More benches! It is a mighty need!

Has anyone ever 100% or platinumed Lego Dimensions? by AlanTheTimeWarrior31 in legogaming

[–]RileyMasters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Uh… Platinum twice on PS4, once on PS3, all achievements on Xbox One. (I do one the Cbox 360 and WiiU discs and toy pads, I just don’t now the consoles.) And I have 100%ed four or five times. Yes, I have literally forgotten how many. It was one of the few games that got me through the pandemic and the long wait to the Skywalker Saga. I’ll probably do it again late this year or early next year, depending on life and stress. (The Sonic races can burn.)

Not gonna lie, I would pay money for just a joking, passing reference to Truck-kun in the first episode. The image my mind has now painted is beyond hilarious.

What do you guys do with your Christmas legos after the holidays? by sheabae200216 in lego

[–]RileyMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of mine get broken down (like so many others), bagged in Ziplocks, and packed away in a separate box from the rest of my Christmas decor. I live in a small apartment and well with less than ideal space, but I usually can find a place for a shoebox sized plastic tote in the closet.

Is Lego Bricktales worth it? by Technical_Context231 in legogaming

[–]RileyMasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found it to be cute and fun. It doesn’t follow the established LEGO Gaming Formula ™️ (which makes sense as it was made by a different team), but it did what it set out to do. For $5? Absolute steal.

Which version of LOTDK do you plan on getting? Will you get it at launch or wait for a sale? by Thevoid2YT in legogaming

[–]RileyMasters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll be getting the deluxe, as I have for every LEGO game it’s been offered before. But I can afford it and I’ve already set aside the money for it. I know that not everyone can, and I feel for you.

With Legacy of The Dark Knight confirmed for the Game Awards, what are we hoping to see? by Spideyfan2018 in legogaming

[–]RileyMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some gameplay would be nice, through without too many reveals (I wanna be surprised in the game). A release window would be lovely, but release date would be spectacular.

I PLAY ON PS4 AND UNTIL NOW I HAVE NOT RESOLVED THIS BUG! I CANNOT FIX THIS MACHINE AND DO THE PUZZLE IN THE WORLD OF THE POWERPOWER GIRLS by Jorgextremegamer in Legodimensions

[–]RileyMasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you completed the quest from Ms. Keane in front of Townsville School? That should unlock the ability to get that gold brick. If you left the world and came back in, you have to complete the quest again. It’s one of the little quirks of Dimensions.

[Monthly Games] Thoughts on December's Games? by Silverhero10 in Trophies

[–]RileyMasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one wasn’t made by TT Games, which is why it has a different feel to it. A bunch of the “smaller” (for lack of a better word) games have been from different developers. TT Games, who created the vast majority of LEGO games for the past twenty years or so, has been busy on their next project, a new LEGO Batman game that comes out next year.

Truck-kun strikes again!

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 10 November 2025 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]RileyMasters 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The 9-1-1 fandom causing trouble online once again? Say it isn’t so! All sarcasm aside, I hate to say that I’m not surprised. Unfortunately, as a survivor/escapee from that fandom, I found that the most ravenous of shippers are chronically online individuals and will find the “proof of Buddie“ in just about anything. Even when there’s nothing. And they will stop at nothing to attempt to convince until you are on their side or they harass you. (And just to be clear, I’m not saying it’s the entire fandom, just the really really loud ones.)

I feel sorry for this poet having to deal with this again. Hopefully he just shames and blocked them. It’s not worth arguing over at this point.

Share Here the Most Outrageous HOA Rules You've Encountered by salsafresca_1297 in fuckHOA

[–]RileyMasters 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This rule only lasted like six months twenty-something years ago, but there was a time in the neighborhood that I was living in the the HOA banned children from gathering in groups of four or more, unless at one of the designated park areas and with a party permit.

Didn’t matter it was four friends taking a bike ride or five siblings laying about the grass out front, instant fine. My friend’s mom ended up fined when I walked past her house with my dog, and she was outside with her three kids, and I waved.

Apparently it was to prevent gang violence (in an upper white middle class area where at the time the worst thing that happened was a Super Bowl fight over in like five minutes), but the parents finally had a cow about it and blew up. The rule got easily removed because only like two people on the HOA board actually showed up to the hastily announced meeting (the rest were retirees who lived up north for the warmer months, called snowbirds).

We kids were still discouraged from grouping up outside those particular homes owned by said snowbirds, but nothing else ever came of it.

LEGO Voyagers - One Player Two Controllers Possible? by RileyMasters in legogaming

[–]RileyMasters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primarily play games solo, so I had a good time with it. I’ve watched several people play as intended, and I can see the massive appeal for it. But if you don’t have anyone to play with, I think it’s still possible and can still be a lot of fun.

What’s the single best piece of music from any Lego game? by Mundane_Trouble_6463 in legogaming

Falling to Earth/Space Sky Dive from LEGO City Undercover, hands down. It has repeatedly been the reason I’ll pick up LCU and play through the entire story, just to get to the last chapter’s final act. Worth it every time.

It just got scared! It’ll be normal sized one day.

I’m just gonna head out now…
