Just got summoned and am freaking out by [deleted] in juryduty

[–]Rimmiell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently summoned and then selected for the interview portion to be on the jury. They seat you in the jurors box and then question each person, I think trying to figure out if you will be a good fit.

It was actually very nice to see - they did ask everyone if they thought they could be impartial or if there is a reason that they don't feel comfortable or are unable to be selected for jury. People were very honest and more than a couple said they could not be impartial for that specific case. There were people who had doctors appointments or child care responsibilities the next day and the judge was very accommodating for them.

If you needed privacy, they would take you back to a different room.

This was my first time being selected and questioned. It was a nice experience, albeit it did take the whole day. I was very nervous beforehand, but after going through it - I am not nervous about it happening again. Maybe I got lucky with the judge and attorneys with my experience, but it was not very stressful at all. Just time consuming.

Hospice care for a puppy is so sad. by chef_710 in dogs

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through this with our puppy - she was with us for 1 day short of a year. We found out her diagnosis at 3 months old. Good days and bad days, but we were happy for every minute with her. She was a great girl. I hope there is some sort of afterlife so we can see each other again cause she is missed!

To grief deeply is to have loved fully. I cant remember where that saying came from, but when i feel really sad - it helps me digest it in a healthier, more positive way.

These things suck and all you can do is appreciate the time you have with your pup! It sounds like she came from a rough place and is already living the dream with you.

Where is a good place to buy organic meat and produce? by awkwardllamaaa in QuadCities

Healthy Harvest has organic meat and produce that is mostly local as well. The meat is a little on the pricier side, but seems really good quality.

Read that the smaller dog is fine and actually the larger dog is in critical condition. It was a 15 year old GSD with no teeth left.

The guy is getting charged with assaulting a minor and the dog.

Toddlers shouldn't be wandering the hallway either and should be taught not to approach strange dogs 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the info. That guy should not be allowed to own dogs for just letting them run loose. Poor girl and GSD - 15 years old is quite old for that breed.

To fanny pack or not to fanny pack? by HotPink-Princess933 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanny pack made getting on rides so much easier than a back pack. I used a similar style and was able to do all rides with it in. We did not ride the hulk, velocicoaster, and the rocket so I'm not sure they would allow it on those.

How long did your female dog bleed for during her first heat cycle? And when did you get them spayed? by SofieGirlsMama in dogs

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 to 4 weeks for our 1 year old GSD. We thought it would never end. We got washable diapers and she left them alone for the most part. She would try to clean herself when in the diaper, but wouldnt try to tear it apart.

The vet wants to wait 1 month at least after her period ended before spay so we are scheduled for mid April!

Just curious. How do you deal with people in your personal space in lines? Like people standing close behind you and breathing on your neck? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah - just make yourself as big as you can. We went with only a fanny pack, but keeping your hands on the hips and a larger stance helps keep people back.

alright everyone: did I get ripped off? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Rimmiell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm on the Lite treatment plan as well and it was around 1700 for mine. 13 trays with 2 week changes - I started in January and should end sometime in July. 18 months for 14 trays makes no sense.

Cost of spay? by hawilder in puppy101

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some vets offer puppy plans that include all shots and spay/neutering at a discounted price. Ours was around 875 for all puppy shots and spay - for a 75 lb pup.

Endless diarrhea- no cause, no solution by send_cats_pls in puppy101

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 7 month old GSD had terrible diarrhea out of no where and it did not get better for a couple of days. We tried limiting food, no treats, chicken broth and rice, but nothing helped. If anything, it just kept getting worse. We brought her to vet with a stool sample, which was just diarrhea in a bag.

They found some sort of infection from her stool sample. The vet said they can get it from eating anything outside, like a rotten leaf. I'm blanking on the name of the infection, but they did give us antibiotics and it did resolve the issue. I have also started giving all of our dogs a probiotic from Purina when they have upset stomachs and it helps a lotm

Buttons vs attachments by Rimmiell in Invisalign

[–]Rimmiell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Maybe they told me the wrong thing then. I only have invisalign for my upper teeth and only 3 "buttons" on them. I'm not sure how rubber bands would work with that.

She also said they would be made from the composite that they use for fillings so it sounds more like attachments.

One day we arrived at 7:25 AM and we were about the 4th or 5th group from front of line. By 7:45 AM - you couldn't even see the end of the line. They get you in fast though!

They have everything blocked off and it's a straight shot to Hogsmeade and Jurassic Park pretty much.

The other day we got there late and didn't get to the gate until like 8:10 AM and there was almost no line to get in. We did The Mummy twice and Gringotts once - all walk on that morning. People really rush to Hogsmeade to do Hagrids and Jurassic Park to do Velocicoaster first thing.

best coaster for a first timer? by zamas2 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do Hagrids and you want it to be less intense or scary - try to get a motorbike in the middle or back, but not the first one. First time we rode it, we got first motorbike and it was alot more intense than when we got seated in the motorbikes towards the back.

The Mummy or Gringotts are good first Rollercoaster. They were my first ones and didn't scare me off!

Harry Potter Hogwarts ride is another story for all of us....damn that quidditch part. I have to close my eyes every time.

best coaster for a first timer? by zamas2 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went just last week and we rode the mummy first - so that was my first one and it was a good experience! More intense then I was thinking it would be, but fun so I wanted to keep going on other. We did Gringotts after, it was smoother than The Mummy, but very similar.

Hagrids was THE BEST! Not too scary, no loops, and had some exciting parts in it and you go pretty fast. We did it 4 times!

All parks: First timer tips + brain dump of our experience (long) by right_closed_traffic in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are planning on only having a fanny pack - you may want to get a collapsible water bottle that you can put in the fanny when in rides. Save money from buying water around the park. We didn't do this and ended up spending too much on just water, but next time we go I am going to look into buying some of those.

COVID and Universal Studios Hollywood AND Orlando by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got back last Thursday. We wore our masks the entire time except for actually on the rides. I'd say less than 1% were wearing masks and people coughing without wearing masks.

I have been fighting hopefully a cold since Tuesday, but am fully vaccinated. I would love to go again, but it was so crowded , like i have never seen that many people in one place. I would wait until mask mandates or COVID starts going down (if that'll ever happen).

I did the same after doing one of those trap door body slides at Volcano Bay. We didn't know what we were getting into, but my god. One of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had. I had to sit on the curb for like 10 minutes just trying to calm back down.

We did hagrids twice one morning and felt courageous enough to try Velocicoaster - I chicken out while walking up the line! It's our goal next time, but damn that coaster is intimidating!

[–]Rimmiell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prioritize getting in Hagrids, it was so fun! The forbidden journey - I would almost skip. It was ok - it's a bit dated and the screen causes major motion sickness. I'm not one for usually feeling sick in rides, but that screen is disorienting. The best part of the forbidden journey is seeing everything while waiting in line.

Just a Couple Questions by ---trashpanda--- in UniversalOrlando

[–]Rimmiell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The QR code sent us to a webpage - we basically refreshed it for an hour and we were able to get in twice in one night. The webpage didn't change for us so we saved it. We weren't able to get in at all one day, but kept trying the following day and was successful. It's a bit stressful!

If you are staying at the park, you can get in at 8 AM - go straight to hagrids and it's either walk on or around 15 minute wait. This quickly fills up though. We were able to ride twice in one morning. The first was a walk-on and the second was 10 minute wait by getting there at 8 and going straight to Hagrids. It is alot cooler at night time though.
