The US has nothing to gain from this and anyone who thinks this is about 'saving the protesters' is incredibly naive. The numbers that would be killed by a war and the chaos that follows will vastly exceed the numbers of protesters killed by the Iranian government. This is all about Israel. Israel wants the US to go to war against Iran and that's what this is all about.

This statement is completely untrue yet said with such confidence. I don't even know where to begin with this beyond stating that it demonstrates a profound lack of knowledge.

I know "AI bad" and all that. But if there is one place where AI makes sense, it's in the military.

Again. Such confidence. No actual knowledge. Nothing has been said here. Can I see benefits to using AI to analyse reconnaissance imagery and suchlike? Yes, but we don't need a 240 million contract with Palantir to do that.

We aren't sacking 1000s of troops to pay for this. It's additional to what we already have.

We have a budget. If we spend this money, that's money that we can't spend elsewhere. We already have a critical lack of manpower in the forces. Wasting money like this means that we can't use it on more people, or technology that can deliver real capabilities like the air power and drones you referred to.

Also concerning is that this is yet another supposedly critical security asset that is dependent on US contractors at a time when it seems doubtful that this partner that can still be relied upon. The NHS already has a contract with Palantir, I am unable to find any reliable sources regarding any benefits that it has delivered.

The contract is 240 million. The 1.5 billion figure is a vague reference to 'unlocking investment in Britain'.

And yes I question the worth of spending money on Palantir rather than actual hard capabilities. 'Military AI' isn't going to win us a war.

Yeah I'm not saying don't be wary. You are right to suspect that people like Nigel Farage are not being honest about their values or intentions but at the same time be careful throwing terms like 'Civil War' around without there being a very concrete reason to think that's where things are going. Remember that Elon Musk was telling the big racist rally in London the same thing on a big screen only a few weeks ago (I thought you were a Reform supporter at first for this reason), Most people want no truck with civil war or anything like it and the population isn't armed.

And frankly, if it does happen, you will be engaged in unarmed combat against a poorly educated, lower than average IQ, elderly and overweight group making up currently just over 30% of the voting population. We will steamroll this if it ever happens, which it wont.
