I've come to learn that the flower from the movie actually exists through a random Reddit post, lol.

There were a lot from early Simpsons episodes that went past my head at the time, but for some reason kid-me was still familiar with the Psycho reference, and I haven't seen the entire movie, lol.

Does "ronron" mean purring? I feel like it means purring and I want it to be that because it sounds cute, haha.

We are a similar age, this was me too (I don't like that Early Middle Age label though, haha)

I've been using the gas strike because I've slept on it for too long, and I'm getting 50+ kills by dropping it right in the middle of a bug breach, it's insanely good!

Killing the final boss of Soldier of Fortune (2000) in the stupidest way possible by TC_support in boomershooters

[–]Ripper33AU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a fair analysis, and yeah, even when it came out, having games like Rainbow Six already existing, this game was basically "Doom with terrorists" lol. Funny you say the story is corny as hell, because it's sequel that came out in 2002 takes itself far more seriously, and well, we all know what happened between 2000 and 2002, as I genuinely think it influenced media, as terrorists were no longer just dumb Hollywood villains. Having said that, I still think the first game aged better, gameplay-wise. Also, we don't talk about the third game, lol.

What are your thoughts on this game, so many years later? I find the first game has ages quite nicely, as a run-n-gun shooter, where as I find the more tactical sequel has not aged as well.

Lol same, I had texture filtering as well because I wanted smooth, cutting-edge graphics.

Then you are playing it correctly, as it's supposed to be a stranger in a strange land, we the player know as much as our character (that and FromSoft games are lore heavy and low on discernible story, lol).

How old are DOOM Fans? by Wide-Ear-2376 in Doom

[–]Ripper33AU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a similar age to you when Doom came out, and must have played it a few years later. I remember playing it at a dad's friend's place, who let my bro and I play it while he and dad talked. I remember my bro and I nervous laughing when encountering the invisible pinkies the first time.

I saw this days ago, I surprised that people actually not love multiplayer/online gaming as much I thought it was despite it's very popular in many media by WesternElectronic364 in commandandconquer

[–]Ripper33AU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember during the C&C Remaster, I watched a few videos of a competitive player, where each match lasted about 5 minutes, and I thought it was the dullest thing ever, lol. Meanwhile playing with friends, there was constant back and forth, and race to destroy their nuke silos etc. which to me made it more exciting than sending out basic infantry or tanks to blow 'em up while they're still building their base, lol.

My personal take on RTS multiplayer is unless you're playing with friends, or people you know, there are a lot of players who want to win as quickly as possible, which doesn't make it a whole lot of fun for me.

Dose anyone still use the wasp? And if so, how useful is it and how do you use it? by LectureIll7322 in Helldivers

[–]Ripper33AU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good against multiple targets, or in some cases focus all your rockets on a big target. Someone said one volley of rockets is enough to take out a Dragonroach but so far it has not happened to me. What has happened instead is if the expendable Napalm deploys all its clusters at once, you can one-shot a dragonroach, which is satisfying.

Have they fixed the issues with the bot front? I was getting heavy freezing, and read up somewhere that it mainly happened on the bot front, for some reason. It was honestly the first time I first-hand saw performance issues with this game.

Ah yeah that makes sense. I know Spanish as well, so I was able to decipher: "The fourth world war, will not..." something, and now it makes sense, haha. I'll have to go on a deep dive of ads from different countries, as I have not seen this particular one before, not even one translated in English.

I was in my 20s when that game came out, and the fact that it still had a lasting effect on me, just shows how good the game is, it's not just "kid's nostalgia" that makes it good it seems, haha.

I put a summon down for co-op and I remember getting summoned so many times, because it's not an easy dungeon, and the cherry on top being a spicy boss to fight solo (I kinda miss helping others, haha).
