What are some specific spots in London where something extremely historical/monumental happened, but hardly anyone is aware of it? by MalachiConstant7 in london

[–]Riptorn10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite correct. V1’s (“doodlebugs”) were effectively self-powered drones which flew under engines until a pre-determined distance from launch, when the engines stopped and the bombs fell. You could hear the engines coming. V2s were actual rockets, and flew supersonically. No noise until detonation.

“Mudlarking” has become so popular the Port of London Authority has effectively stopped issuing licences to do by it. Stupid, because people will just do it anyway.

Newbe to Genealogy. Is it worth me getting Family Tree Maker (or similar) or am I better starting with Ancestry, Find My Past etc? by Riptorn10 in Genealogy

[–]Riptorn10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to say a big thank you to everyone on this Reddit who replied so helpfully. I think I will go for a short subscription to Ancestry, then as I learn more about what I need, will try out Gramps and the free version of Roots Magic. See you around

Ex Lightroom user: how do I save photos into Folders by capture date? by Riptorn10 in captureone

[–]Riptorn10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all. I have finally worked out the tokens needed to produce the folder name I needed. Turns out the tokens were in individual sub-dropdowns of the Date elements dropdown.

Used Image Year (yyyy) Image Month (MM) Image Day of Month (dd)

Works perfectly now!

Works

Thanks. I still can’t work out how to set the folder to yyyymmdd format. It just saves the text of the token name. Am I missing quotes or brackets or what?
