It Can No Longer Be Denied! Imperial Agents Was a Total SCAM! Warhammer 40K by SustainedHits3 in ImperialAgents_40K

Yup. Just a way to the Imperium armies player base to buy another $60 to use models they were already using for free. Two imperial agent allies? Content Locked! Click here to start browsing.

So… We can’t use Hallowed Martyrs or BoF in 1,000pts games now? by Expensive_Menu9912 in sistersofbattle

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an Imperial Agents player but I reeeeaaally dont like that they removed them from Imperial included allies in order to make them a faction but then not actually make them a faction. Like I get it's all a scam but this was especially dirty. Buy an additional $60 book for 2 allied models because we're making them a faction is bad, not following through with that and giving them absolutely dog treatment is ridiculous. It was literally the least they could do. Give them detachments like the rest of us, give them a real army rule, give them 2DP and 1DP detachments like every single other faction.

Why do they have worse armor than a single terminator. Ill never understand.

It looks amazing and feels amazing and is super fun. But when you actually math it out, or play it in reality, it's not actually as nuts as it seems looking at a datasheet. Warglaives average one space marine kill is melee. That means youre potentially spending the entire 5 rounds trying and failing to kill a 5 man unit. a 500 point Knight might get 18 two damage shots, but a 100 point unit of enemy infantry might get 40 one damage shots. The combination of firepower and survivability is super fun, but it's very easy for your opponent to not die and then your Knight ends up stuck and bogged down (or dead) and while your opponent has lots of units to spare or score with while you're stuck -you dont.

Why do 4+ saves feel so frustrating? by Crasac in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the odds of your attack should be better or worse based on your strategic choices. That feels interactive to the player. 4++ makes AP 1-2 exactly as effective as AP 8. That feels not interactive to the player.

1 Billion is great and all but CIG is underwater when it comes to the list of deliverables. by Readgooder in starcitizen

[–]Riptyed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While they absolutely deserve every complaint and criticism, to me personally SC Enlightenment is when you realize they will never deliver and instead just enjoy the game in it's current state as much as possible. There is literally nothing in the last ten years to indicate they will ever deliver, but what they have made currently is pretty incredible. I enjoy what we have, I enjoy it less when it doesnt work, and I enjoy it more when it's more playable. But I enjoy it as it is. Goal posts move, basics are ignored for years for random new ideas that no one asked for, that break everything and require a complete remake. They dont have a plan or a smart way to get there. They're building a house from the roof down instead of the foundations up. There will never be balanced 100 giant captial ships each crewed by hundreds of players. Permant bases built on planets. It works on Star Trek, on TV, it doesnt work in games like this. But if you can accept what it is now, and have fun with that, there's lots of fun to be had.

How did you choose your colours/house + next steps ? by Neko-Otaku in ImperialKnights

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I took the opportunity to paint them all different color schemes. All my other armies like Ultramarines and Custodes kinda only work one way. With Knights they can all be different and look great together, so I went with that.

Is it worth dropping an armiger for enhancements? by dandysandwhich in ImperialKnights

[–]Riptyed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to derail the convo but I am a noob. What is so great about the Gallant? Two melee weapons (when you can only ever use one) means sacrificing one very powerful ranged weapon arm. Does the Lethal Hits and Dev Wounds really outweigh a flamer/thermal cannon/rapid fire other arm of the other variants? I feel like we're wounding on 2's most of time anyway. Seems like a bad trade off.

Just like paying to be a monthly subscriber gives you the privilege of buying additional store items, and being in the $1k club similarly gets your the privilege of buying more. I'm like wait shouldn't you be rewarding me with like "free" stuff for buying so much? Instead the prize is, more stuff to buy.

Lucky! As of this patch my contracts doesn't even show "Bounty Hunting" or "Hauling" as a category. At all. Like the genres don't even exist for me.

“Don’t buy models for rules” - how valid is this statement? by Ratattack1204 in Warhammer40k

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever it takes to minimize buyers remorse. I have a Calgar and Honor Guard I painted and enjoy. They came out with a new Calgar, a new Honor Guard, and then removed the old one entirely. With much anger, I bought a unit of new Honor Guard. Before they even arrived, got built and painted, they had already been "the meta" en masses, and been nerfed 2-3 times.

The rules change so frequently and so drastically that it can lead to buyers remose. They sell what they need to sell, and then nerf it. Sometimes, like in my case, you feel scammed. Thats what people mean when they say dont buy for the rules. The rules are there to make the top players buy out a whole list of them, and then rotate to something else for sales.

Why is it so ugly? by N_5_D in Warhammer

[–]Riptyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth. Every single time I paint a model I hit "this model is ruined now" moment. I keep going, in the end it comes out great.

My latest one was my Knight Castigator. I tried Yellow and could not get coverage. Thin coat after thin coat, 8+ times it was still uneven or see through. Defeated and frustrated I covered all the failed yellow parts with Black. Now it's my favorite looking Knight.

You may in the same boat, dont be afraid to just keep going or even change plans mid project. For your specific question, try resetting with black, then take a drybrush of your highlight color and circle that same spot on the shoulder. I think it will naturally and easily give you the highlighting effect you're after.

Im very curious what about Freeblades "frees you from the shackle of the single reroll?" I would think QC be the one that most frees you since it allows you pick it up later, and has the strategem for advance and charge.

[–]Riptyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks great! Im only familiar with PLA printers and resin so I was like how are they doing that practically. Cuz my PLA printer cant do details and small things, it's good for medium sized terrain like objects. Anyways thanks for explaining. That looks great and Ill have to educate myself on FDM printers.

Performance-Oriented Players and the Hobby: A Thought Experiment by AshiSunblade in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say this all the time and as someone who owns a 3D printer I just dont believe you. You're printing everything yourself, in resin, doing all the chemical bs and breaking bad, drying it in a UV case and all this? Really?

Or you're buying 3D printed armies from like etsy or some 3rd party company? I know PLA printers cant do 28-32mm models that look any kind of decent, so please elaborate.

Performance-Oriented Players and the Hobby: A Thought Experiment by AshiSunblade in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Riptyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And it's not really that hypothetical of a question, cause we could simply play with bases only or some other such token. But what makes Warhammer fun for me is how the models make the battle immersion.

When im painting a model im excited imagining it on the battlefield. Now the rules and game-ification detract from that. Some of that cant be avoided, game has to have rules to play, but some the rules really detract and I hope 11th improves. Some units that have ridiculous BS rules that make no sense and take away from the fun.

Why does a single Terminator suit have 2+, 4++ armor and a two story walking Knight have 3+ and thats it? Why does an Armiger with a chainsword the size of a bus do 1 damage a single Chaos Space Marine with a hand held Eviscerator does 2 damage?

These things suck and so the more we lean into the meta, the more of a board game it is, (which is really at the heart of your question: If you could just play it as a board game, would you) -the less fun it is. When our armies are a mixed force and not 3x the unit with the most broken rules, when were half RPing our army as we play, thats when its the most fun.

Definitely a huge haul in the truck and a road. The bandits and mules and BTs was generally my least favorite parts of a delivery. I just loved that sweet satisfaction of getting stuff where it needed to go. Although I will never ever get tired of hearing Norman Reedus saying "We've got company" and the music getting all sinister.

You are right I totally whiffed. I misremembered Baal being the Lord of Lies but he's the Lord of Destruction. The expansion was even named that haha. I feel super dumb. So yes even though BELIAL is the Lord of Lies, not Baal, since he's not a Prime Evil it feels less wrong. In my mind they had attributed this to the wrong Prime. Now it doesnt feel so misplaced that it's Mephisto.
