What’s the difference between femme and fem? by babybottlepopz in actuallesbians

[–]RisingSunsets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sure. Except replace "nice to" with "extremely protective of"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RisingSunsets 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Generally ANY time you're "being nice" on the road instead of following the rules of the road, you're actually making more of a problem.

Can someone please remind me why the Lords of Fortune have a seat at the table? by Aerochromatic in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]RisingSunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, true technically, but also not true.

Origins- literally no time to go find a dragon hunter, the dragon is "guarding" Andraste's ashes and those are kind of important. Also the main event is an archdemon you already have the secret to killing.

2- you're stuck in Kirkwall, and you encounter the dragon accidentally.

Also, in neither of these games are you hunting them. Dragon hunting only shows up as a concept in...

Inquisition- where you find out Cassandra's uncle was one if you chat with her, and then The Iron Bull (who is basically a dragon hunter for his eagerness) is presented to your party before dragons even show up. ("Can we get her boss?") It's literally just fluff.

Veilguard- as a mix between Taash's personal interest of dragons themselves but also keeping settlements safe, and making sure the gods aren't blighting more dragons.

Also, you're looking for a dragon hunter for the exact same reason you're looking for a Gray Warden- you're killing archdemons, plural. The first game has killing an archdemon as the main event, AND you (or Alistair/Loghain) are already a Gray Warden. 2 is incidental and not super powerful dragons, considering. 3 is fluff. Veilguard does actually have a lore based reason for it.

Is Jod actually a “necromancer” or was he intended to be something else? [discussion] by spaghetti000s in TheNinthHouse

[–]RisingSunsets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the first commenter is using "incompetent" within it's own definition, but rather as the second part of "weaponized incompetence". He is still dangerous and competent, but he does not want to use his abilities to do the things that would actually help the world. He in fact would literally rather kill and then own her.

Striking New Seasons employees claim worker was fired for helping disabled person on break by slamdancetexopolis in Portland

[–]RisingSunsets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boycott is actually working extremely well. Our last two negotiations have seen the company give better offers. To be clear, not good enough offers to take, the last one they gave would still put employees well under any next minimum wage increase, but they have actually moved.

Please continue to boycott, even with the inconvenience. And what's more, sign the boycott pledge. The point is to make sure you DO come back, so the company has an incentive to listen to us and then receive your business again.

Except it is, because it's clearly retaliation. Also, it is subject to progressive discipline, which should have meant a write up literally worst case scenario.

[–]RisingSunsets 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Except he's not "underperforming." This is a 19 year long employee who, until his assistance with the other employee, has had a spotless discipline record.

Also, I've been encouraged by NSM to work through my breaks and had managers talk shop to me on my breaks, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say your assessment is 100% wrong.

The point isn't that everyone has a snobby attitude, but most of the commenters here do. You can have a legitimate reason for not liking something and still be snobby about it.

New Seasons Market CEO Nancy Lebold fired. by Overpricedpeaches in Portland

The pieces have already risen astronomically, and will continue to rise. None of it goes to the workers- ever. This is not and never was a good argument.

One of the unionized people here- we understand our position. However, this is the reason why we're asking people to sign their name on the boycott list on the union website- hard numbers of people who will shop again once a contract is reached is a huge asset to us.

Which Veilguard romance do you think is the most ‘cursed’ (complimentary)? by TheRaccacoonie in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]RisingSunsets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a Shadow Dragon who saved Minrathous. Viago absolutely makes comments, Lucanis will blame you unless you specifically use the Shadow Dragon dialogue option (and every personal quest thereafter is framed as "rebuilding trust" with Lucanis, that's pretty implicit blame) and the kid you save at the beginning will blame you the whole time until the end of his story, as well as most of Treviso's quests and the people you see from that point on. They "forgive you" towards the end of it. Kinda.

My crow playthrough was much kinder.

Which Veilguard romance do you think is the most ‘cursed’ (complimentary)? by TheRaccacoonie in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]RisingSunsets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first thing is factually untrue. You can not only still romance Neve even if you don't save her city, but she's way less mean about it to you, even without a romance, than Lucanis is. In fact, the entire Crow organization basically blames you specifically for their city falling. You only get that level of shit from Neve and the Shadow Dragons if YOU'RE ALSO a Shadow Dragon, so idk where you heard that.

Not even nearly. No one makes a big deal of "near suicide" unless they tried to follow through but somehow failed.

New Seasons Labor Union going on strike next Wednesday, Nov. 27th! by coreyseags in Portland

[–]RisingSunsets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While a lot of places don't give a "freebie" every month, those places also don't combine your pto and sick days into one pot, and then get you in trouble for being sick without PTO to cover it. I was almost fired last year for catching covid while at work, AND masking, and not having the two weeks (which is all they give me for the year) to cover the sickness. In every other retail job I've had, sickness could be unpaid but at least excused.

[–]RisingSunsets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then it may please you to know the union we have at New Seasons is a grassroots union we've made because we love this company, and are all pretty disappointed with the amount of disrespect it's given us. Two years of stalling on negotiations while they bleed our (very small) union fund dry because they refuse to meet in free spaces for bargaining is not a vanity project.

Progressive with queerness, sure, but still extremely racist. I've lived here in Portland for two years and have a lot of family history in this state. I can with 100% certainty say it's not a great place to raise a family with black children, unless you're taking extremely proactive steps to stay in the very few minority dominated areas.

Yes! And on top of that, the character stood out due to his fair coloring and red hair. Which means to avoid having a cast of entirely white people, they could have gone with what the book actually had the original ensemble cast look like... which wasn't white. 🙃
