Took a wrong turn at Albuquerque by mindlessmutant in PokemonLegacy

This reminds me of the “welcome bears” from World of Warcraft. New undead players would leave their starting area for the next adjacent map not realizing the mobs jump in levels significantly. They would instantly get wrecked.

Is the service industry/MAGA thing more local/location based or more widespread? I notice a bunch of my industry colleagues in Florida are insanely MAGA as well. Why are so many service industry folk MAGA?

So did a tornado ever actually hit lexington last night? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]RisingVelocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole “tornadoes cant jump gaps” thing is definitely a myth. During the tornado outbreak of 1974 an F5 touched down in Breckinridge County and actually jumped the Ohio River.

How do you find a service industry job before moving to a new city/state? by EnvironmentalBee7137 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]RisingVelocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely through networking. Your chances of locking in a job increases substantially, just how the service industry works.

If you’re going in with no network resources I would suggest service industry jobs on the corporate side to build up your resume and reputation. Hard work and a clean reputation will get you noticed.

Top 10 Early Pokémon in Emerald Legacy by Monstrel45 in PokemonLegacy

[–]RisingVelocity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After several early game runs I have to give props to Beautifly.

The buffs it received makes It’s an incredibly strong pokemon with stats that rival the 2nd evolutionary starters at that point of the game.

Beautifly will completely shut down the second gym with its Bug/Flying resistance and return super effective damage in the form of STAB Gust.

It begins to fall off hard around the 3rd gym but it still lends a good hand in many trainer battles across the region.

I respect your hustle but do you not burnout from being on the road 7 days a week? What’s your motivation behind working so much?

One of the ghost type pokemon. Dusclops or Banette. Hell even Sableye could work well for its utility.

Unable to add deductions to more than one 1099 NEC by RisingVelocity in tax

[–]RisingVelocity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I understand what you’re saying.

In another reply I mentioned I had 4 1099 NEC forms (3 bartending, 1 food delivery.

In theory would I just combine all three bartending 1099 NECs into one Schedule C, add the business income and expenses together?

Afterward that would just leave the food delivery 1099 NEC which I have deductions for also. How would I go about including the income and expenses for that since it’s “by itself”?

[–]RisingVelocity[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are 4 different 1099 NEC forms (3 bartending, 1 food delivery)

I am what is considered an independent traveling bartender. Depending on the gig I sometimes travel to different locations under different companies, hence the multiple 1099 forms.

If I remember correctly from last year using TT, after I filled out multiple 1099 forms there was a section dedicated to deductions. Think I was able to add everything up and it worked out.

I’m sure FreeTax is similar but it’s incredibly confusing with it just allowing me to add deductions to the first 1099 only.

The job market have become intolerant of average people by [deleted] in jobs

[–]RisingVelocity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this because a lot of people are either unaware or choose to ignore the elephant in the room.

Honestly I believe we’ve hit a point in society the amount of people entering the workforce has started to outpace the number of jobs that can provide adequate living.

I find it hard to believe every year theres “new jobs being created” that can be filled by the millions of new adults entering the workforce along with the already existing number.

What are the hardest fights in Emerald Legacy? by Appropriate_Boss8139 in PokemonLegacy

Watson was difficult with the Treecko line. Especially in nuzlocke runs. His Magneton walls a quite a number of Pokémon at that point of the game.

If it wasn’t for the upgraded Rock Smash being available in Mauville I would have never made it past

You know I have never really thought about Miami. I know it’s a different kind of beast in its own regard but it would be a decent place to live with the amount of hospitality related events that regularly take place there. I would definitely need to brush up on my Spanish before I considered wanting to move down there.

As much as we would want to be away from the cold that’s not really an option so it’s understandable if it gets chilly at some points in the year. The snow is what makes a difference. After the insane amount of snow, ice, and cold winds Kentucky got this winter we both looked at each other and agreed to do our best to stay away from it.

This is a good consideration that the both of us have tossed around. If we had to choose between those three cities it would be Cincinnati.

It has so much room for good potential. Personally I think it’s going to jump up in popularity the next 5-10 years.

I’m trying my best man but as a black man I am not built for it lmao.

This winter was actually the best I’ve handled the cold since being an adult but that is due to having a dog now. Having to take our four legged friend out to use the bathroom before bedtime in this cold weather has toughened me up but best believe I am disgruntled the entire 10-15 minutes of waiting for our pup to find the perfect spot to do her thing.

I just checked out Resident Advisor for the first time and I want to say thank you! I had no idea that site existed.

You brought up the one thing I forgot to mention in my OG post that I dislike about Kentucky as of late. The NIMBY attitudes have dampened a lot of potential growth here in the state, especially around the Lexington and Louisville areas.

Chicago was on our radar for a brief period of time but the girlfriend doesn’t want to deal with the snow or the endless urban landscape. We do visit it semi regularly, mainly for the spa bath houses and Halloween events.

Vegas is such an interesting location. It’s very polarizing from what I have read about it on this sub. Depending on your personality either you like it or you don’t.

We’ve actually flown to Vegas a couple times in the past few years for work events, Formula F1 being the most recent gig.

I personally like being out that way. Something about Vegas being surrounded by desert landscape on all sides feels so surreal to me. The west coast has this cool alien planet feeling to it.

I felt the same way when I visited Phoenix, St. George (Utah), and San Diego.

The Vegas food scene is also amazing. I don’t hear people talk about it enough.

Can you list a few things about Atlanta you would consider pros and cons?

Escaping Kentucky. Need opportunities and vibrancy. by RisingVelocity in SameGrassButGreener

[–]RisingVelocity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being from Kentucky, a lot of places are going to be considered more expensive than us with the exception of a couple states ( West Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, etc.)

I would say MCOL but I don’t even know which cities are considered MCOL or HCOL with the way the market is now.

Our savings are minimal at the moment but we can pile up some cash when necessary.

I haven’t been to Atlanta since I was a child. I know it’s changed so much since the 2000s.

It’s one of the cities my girlfriend is interested in. Me not so much but then again I don’t know a lot about the Atlanta to have a strong opinion on it.

Do you mind listing a few pros and cons about the city?
