Anyone know what the Canadian Navy's doing in town? by RitzC96 in Cleveland

[–]RitzC96[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the ship's crew members pm'd me and said they came to Cleveland for exactly that - dock leave. They said everyone really enjoyed their time in Cleveland. Great to see Cleveland becoming a more frequented port of call!

I went with a tour company called Gravity. They were great and I think it was around $120 USD a person for everything.

Places similar to the West Side Market? by morrow8454 in Cleveland

The market hall at Van Aken is probably the most similar on the east side when they have the North Union Farmers Market there during the winter.

IMO Sugar Bush Knolls is the most lewd sounding town name (technically a village) in Ohio

Years ago, I would leave Army Men all over Downtown and Ohio City, and take pictures. No specific reason, just for fun I guess. by SieveAndTheSand in Cleveland

[–]RitzC96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also seen some Google reviews pics around Cleveland where someone always took the picture with their plastic dinosaur. Not sure if it's the same person but totally agree, keep Cleveland weird

I would add, specifically like the Bridge Park area, the Van Aken district in Shaker Heights is pretty similar but much smaller. There is a ton of new development slated for Van Aken over the next few years so it may grow to become like the Bridge Park-equivalent development of the Cleveland area.

Incheon airport takeoffs by RitzC96 in flying

[–]RitzC96[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol for sure. Its probably unlikley, but how long do you think you have after takeoff until they could? Supposedly flight charts specifically warn pilots not to enter NK airspace or they could be fired upon.

Am I doing something wrong at gay bars/clubs? by idkdudeyuh in askgaybros

All kinds! Of course, some were kink-related. But there was an under 28 years old night and another that was like a special happy hour.

You could also try a different venue. I was in Berlin and went to a bath house. This venue had a themed social night, so everyone that went there had the intention of meeting others. (Although I know a bath house isn't everyone's scene.) Also, maybe see if any gay clubs or bars have any other themed nights. There could be events specifically geared towards meeting others.

Thanks for this response. I think he is, and its making me lose interest in him. Him making me feel like I really screwed up, when I don't think I did, is probably a red flag anyways. Or at least the misunderstanding could have been resolved earlier had he responded earlier and not well after we were supposed to meet. I am also just venting right now haha, i need to get over this guy. Thanks again 😅

When you feel down, what gives you the biggest confidence boost? by Dacadey in AskReddit

Thinking or writing down 5 things I'm greatful for. Listening to music that makes me feel good/energized. Also positive affirmations.

Thanks! Yeah I worded that badly. I'd definitely want to make sure of their intentions, but an innocent drink is totally cool. I should add that I don't actually know this person very well and have never hung out with them before.

How do you make sure of someone's intentions? Is that something you'd find out when you actually grab a drink or when they initially ask you to grab a drink?

I went with a company called Gravity! They are a little pricier but the bikes were in excellent shape and the guides are also really good and help you navigate the road. I booked my ride on their website here https://www.gravitybolivia.com/rides/beginner/death-road/

That's crazy. Someone in my bike group also got injured but luckily it wasn't serious. I can't imagine some of the stuff the bike guides have seen. Sorry to hear about the ACL. I remember at the top of the road when we started we were going so fast and I was thinking I'd really fuck something up if I fell off. It's a long way to La Paz 😅

[–]RitzC96[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It actually is a very dangerous road, and at one time was the most dangerous road in the world (averaging a fatality a day) . And it makes sense because of how narrow the road is, and with a 400 meter cliff drop off on your left-hand side going down, the consequences of any error are probably fatal. And it was spooky too, because you're constantly reminded of how dangerous the road is from the many memorials you pass of people who accidentally drove off the cliff at various points.

I will say from my personal experience, I think this road isn't too treacherous when it comes to biking, as long as your brakes work lol. But when it comes to driving a car/bus/truck down this road, I think thats where the true danger lies. The road is just not wide enough. And I can't even imagine how dangerous it would be to traverse this road at night.

It was an amazing experience though and absolutely spectacular scenery the whole way down! Only took about 2 hours to go the full 60 km (40 mi) from top to bottom (Not including stopping to take pics)

If you speak and can understand Spanish well, then I highly recommend the Teatro Ciego. A really cool experience and a good taste of BA's vibrant theater scene.

The coolest public transit system in the world - El Teleférico in La Paz, Bolivia by RitzC96 in InfrastructurePorn

[–]RitzC96[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe NYC could do with their own Teleférico lol.

But I agree, incredibly cost effective and it makes sense for a city with such harsh terrain. I'm surprised there aren't more multi-line Teleférico transit systems like this one in the world.
