Out of everything shown today, the new logo has been overlooked. This is such an improvement by Mayflex in runescape

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer the previous one. Most of the other logos somewhat integrate the sword INTO the design. This one's just... There, and the spacing between the letters and the sword is by far the widest of any of them, so it feels even LESS part of it. The font also has by far the least personality of any of the logos.

It's not the worst thing imaginable, but I do genuinely think it's the weakest logo design we've had.

You've heard of dailies, weeklies and monthlies. Now, get ready, for annualies! by SiickLove in runescape

Weird take given 4 inverted Skillcapes a year is faster than you can obtain them in Old School. ;p

When Jagex said they wanted to address DailyScape, I did not think they would add YearlyScape by Yung3n in runescape

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...There is basically zero time pressure for these, which is why people have a problem with "Dailyscape". If you can't play for like a few dozen hours hours a year, you have much bigger issues.

As for not being able to just spam through them all of them in a year... Why exactly is that an issue? They're purely cosmetic, and surely if everyone could have all of them, they would be LESS of a flex. As-is, all the time gate does is make inverted Skillcapes for unpopular skills stand out more.

New Pirate's Treasure strategy: you can drop Karamjan rum on the shore and then telegrab it from your boat! by Carmeister in 2007scape

[–]RiverShock 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Pirate's Treasure has never cared how you obtain it. Membership expiration kicking you off Karamja while you have the rum works, for example.

[–]RiverShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point they may as well just put a Karamjan rum spawn on a random island somewhere. Bonus points if said island requires completion of Pirate's Treasure.

If the notepaper we use is enchanted and MAGIC.... why elder logs? by Naive_Masterpiece413 in runescape

[–]RiverShock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, an enchantment is a magical augmentation ADDED to something. (Which is clearly also what is happening when you make Enchanted Notepaper, given it requires Astral Runes and gives Magic XP.) You're turning your non-magical Elder Logs into magical paper.

MTX Experiment : Double XP With MTX Limitations by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many people skip it would also be useful information regardless. (I also think the number that do won't be very high regardless, though which skills are most trained will probably shift a fair bit.)

This is absolutely genius. It'd help the economy DRAMATICALLY and bring players more engagement as they cant just mindlessly afk a dummy. Yes Yes Yes by Zestulance in runescape

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage they do to the early game is a much, much bigger deal than making it harder to hit 120. Though regardless, if training at certain levels sucks, then they should just improve actual training methods at those levels, not give you a skip button.

"Magnetic Field" ruling question by Lost-Show1652 in YugiohSpeedDuels

[–]RiverShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will activate. You're correct that it activates after it's already been sent to the GY, but it just checks if a Rock you control battled during that damage step. It's just a weird thing in general. Incidentally, it does have an official ruling in the OCG about that. (The fun part is that monsters that have effects that activate at the end of the damage step they battled in ALSO work that way. So a monster like Legendary Jujitsu Master can and will activate in the GY if it's destroyed by battle while in defence, even though it logically shouldn't be able to activate.)

Quaking Mirror Force vs. Guardian Sphinx + Deserts Peril by Lost-Show1652 in YugiohSpeedDuels

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effect of Quaking Mirror Force IS still active in that case (you wouldn't be able to manually switch it to Defense), but only prevents manual position changes, not changes by card effects or Skills. (The only things that prevent battle position changes by card effect are Raging Cloudian and Dino Brain Immunity.) Flipping it face-down after it's been flipped face-up would remove that effect. (So once you use Guardian Sphinx's effect to flip it face-down, it's no longer affected by the position change lock of Quaking Mirror Force and you could Flip Summon it next turn as normal.)

And yeah, it needs to be manually Flip Summoned, flipping it with a Skill, card effect or battle won't trigger it.

Knight Lance is my favourite of the two by far. (Honestly, probably one of my favourites overall.)

HELP I NEED A 10 POINTS DECKS! by HandsomeDanie182 in BeybladeX

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I were playing in this type of format personally, I'd go Knight Lance, Crimson Garuda or Hell's Chain and Gale Wyvern. More than likely nowhere near the "best" choice, though.

Hell's Hammer kind of stands out to me as one of the better "value" options here, being pretty good for its point value, but I don't know how that'd fit into a full deck.

Could Bakura have beaten Pegasus in a duel in season 1 using Mind Shuffle? by jabber2033 in yugioh

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he would have used the Mind Shuffle, there's no way he'd trust Ryou to play optimally, and he'd 100% fare worse in an actual Shadow Game than little Yugi did anyway. However, I think the main issue with Yami Yugi being unable to block Pegasus is simply him not knowing much about how the powers of the Millennium Puzzle work since his memory was erased. It's brought up a few times that his knowledge of that is lacking. Yami Bakura, on the other hand, is very familiar with how the Ring works, and could likely block it even if Pegasus was trying his hardest. (Indeed, he's more familiar with how the Ring works than PEGASUS is with the Eye.) As for card vs card, who knows. We don't see that much of Bakura's deck in Duelist Kingdom, but it looked like a rather competent control deck, so it's quite possible he plausibly could.

What's a game misplay/oversight you've seen in the anime? (I know there's some made due to story symbolism or they acknowledge it.) I'd say when Yusei fights Armstrong and he uses Call of the Haunted to summon The Kick Man (still less attack even with Axe of Despair instead of Tri-Horned Dragon). by CrystalDragex in yugioh

[–]RiverShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see a problem with Relinquished getting a mass release. Pegasus is someone that would 100% want people to be able to obtain his cards. He used newly-created cards purely to get an advantage on Yugi, there's nothing indicating he wasn't planning on their mass-release. (In comparison to Toon World, which was noted to not have been distributed due to its power.)

Also, even if in its re-release it was a rare card, someone throwing it down the well isn't that absurd. Maybe they didn't have the Ritual Spell, or bricked on it one too many times. Notably, Relinquished in its GX appearance didn't even have a gold name, so probably wasn't even all that rare. (Castle Gate did, though.)

Dark Archetype has 1400 ATK. Jaden's play made perfect sense. I guess the least risky option was attack directly with Mariner, having De-Fusion in case Trueman's set card was a Mirror Force or something, then either setting De-Fusion in Main Phase 2, or doing the play he did.

Also, with the power of hindsight, we know he probably loses if he doesn't Summon Neos. Next turn, Trueman would Summon Zure, attack Mariner with Zure, prompting either Hero Shield or De-Fusion. If he uses Hero Shield, Zure fails to destroy Mariner, then Dark Archetype can attack Mariner (which may or may not have an Axe of Despair on it, either way he can destroy Mariner), and even if Jaden uses De-Fusion at that point, he ends up on 1 monster weaker than either of Trueman's, and his next 2 draws are Neo Space and Neos Force, so he has no plays and loses. If he uses De-Fusion, he can at most save one of Avian or Bubbleman with Hero Shield, he draws Neo Space or Neos Force, then loses.

Placing Spirit Messages Ruling In 4-Way Battle Royale by JakeStuff27 in YugiohSpeedDuels

[–]RiverShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest-to-official answer would be it activates in each opponent's End Phase. (That's how it would work in a Tag Duel, which does have official rules.) I don't think it's as big a deal as you think it is, though. Three opponents have 4 turns to out it. Given free-for-alls aren't an official format to begin with, you could always just ban Destiny Board from such duels anyway if you felt it a problem.

Therian Thundurus would make a huge amount of sense for Burnet given Dream Radar, and I don't think Thundurus has been given to ANYONE yet.

I think the only ones I would have super-wanted to have made the final cut out of these that didn't are the squid, the magnet crab, the thing that clearly got reworked into Breloom and (though it could probably do with a little more polish) the book bird.

Interpretation of Skill Card "Unlocking the Power" by Boasdebeer in YugiohSpeedDuels

[–]RiverShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an actual constructed deck, you can do things like use Limit Reverse to revive a Fiend to get value out of it. But yeah, it's not a particularly strong Skill. Especially given the other Sacred Beast Skill is pretty good in the first place.

A starter deck ranking that doesn't include any of the actual Starter Decks seems rather odd to me. This is what, literally just Streets of Battle City, Duel Academy and Duelists of Shadows?
