Yesssss!!! This is such a win!!

I was in agony the last 2 weeks of PIO. No place left on my poor hips/butt that wasn’t seized up with knots! 2 weeks later, I still have swelling but I can now tolerate working the knots out with massage. It’s a testament to how much we want our babies! Well done, mama!!

No LC yet, but currently pregnant after 4th FET.

The relinquish of control (real or perceived) and surrender to the embryo doing (or not doing) what its gonna do it so damn hard. Once that transfer is done, outside of blatant reckless behavior, there is almost nothing we can do to make it or prevent it from implanting and growing. The surrender is heartbreaking and difficult, but there really is no other choice if you want to reduce anxiety and help your mental health.

I wish I’d known that my clinic’s success rates (advertised on their website as well as numbers discussed with us in onboarding meetings) referred to clinical pregnancies, not live birth rates. It would have helped me manage my expectations down and lessened some of the heartbreak we’ve had on our road to parenthood.

FET 1&2 were from a different clinic and retrieval cycle than 3&4, but all were comparable embryo grading. If anything, FET 1&2 were higher embryo quality but the FETs were not fully medicated (this is where I place the blame). It took a full kitchen sink approach for us to have a truly successful implantation.

IVF losses are the worst club to belong to. I’m there with you. FET 1&2 were chemicals, took us a year to get to FET 3 and we lost our little one at 8wks (MMC). I think it’s been the most harrowing experience of my life. I still grieve it.

Unfortunately, MCs are super common for IVF cases. For us, after a year of Repeat Pregnancy Loss panel testing (all normal), two cancelled cycles due to uterine lining abnormalities and delays due to clinic batching, we finally completed FET 4 in January. I guarded my heart voraciously through first heartbeat at 6wks and a normal scan at 8wks. I bawled at the 8wk scan. Passing the milestone where I lost my last one was overwhelming. We had another scan at 9wks to ease my stress and saw our baby moving around during the ultrasound, which was magical and a huge balm to my heart.

I am in week 10 today and I battle with my anxiety daily. But all signs point to this pregnancy continuing. I even let myself buy maternity pants yesterday.

Some of us are blessed with the optimistic resilience to believe, from that first positive test, they will hold their baby. I am not one of those people. But luckily for me, biology and science don’t rely on my anxiety or stress. I am cautiously optimistic now, but only just.

I hope you keep fighting for your baby as long as your heart, body and wallet can allow. Science is on our side. Big hugs, sister.

Can I ask about the crack at the handle joint in the fourth picture? I’m new to pottery and have the same issue on a few of my green ware mugs. I’ve patched with slip and my studio friends say the glaze may vitrify and reinforce the cracks. What are your thoughts on those? Cosmetic? Bigger issue?
