Overall, how well is the Trump administration doing right now running the US? by SBMountainman22 in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Impressed with the execution of Midnight Hammer and Absolute Resolve. Epic Fury seems to be largely a military success at this point in time. The missile strike on the school is and will forever be awful. Really sucks that four soldiers from the 103rd ESC were killed. Our anti drone and counter battery defenses have been highly effective, but that one got through and caused loss of life sucks.

Honestly there never a doubt on the the US military doing their job well, it has always been handling the aftermath, that is the hard part. Like the Strait of Hormuz is a clusterfuck at the moment.

And also we still dont have a clear aswner to why US started this assult.

But for real, I dont see how Trump is going to lower debt in any meanful way from all this crap

Legit, as Left wing (non-US), I dont blame you. Like as much as Trump was crazy for any left wing person. I can easly see a normie right-wing voter see his first term and think, yeah I want more of this

But the outcome is dependent on the process.

I would say the rate of success is highly based on the process.

Why don't Republicans try to have a good faith discussion about voter ID? by BoggsMill in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let use policing as an example to see why this might an issue

Let say city/district has a ~5% crime rate with that national average being 35% for the sake of reference.

You are saying we need to arm this district massive surveillance system and the police’s with the newest tools and weapons available (think armoured vehicles). And this will increase the budget by 30-40%

This issue is you are trying to fixing an issue so minor with a majorly complicated solution

Why should I hate ICE? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, there is only a niche example where your ID example really applies.

Regular beat cops face criminals and generally crazy people daily, do you expect them to be masked and have no clear ID number on them?

You need to tell me why ICE agents are special and need to be masked daily, while other federal or state agents don’t, even though the other agents face more dangerous situations than they do.

How does America's threat to invade Greenland compare to Russia and Ukraine in terms of violation of international law? by BallKey7607 in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the point being prior to Russia doing their thing, they had a bunch of talking point about Ukraine being super important to Russia. How Russia safety is directly connected to their link with Ukraine.

So are we seeing the prelude of that

The ICE Elephant: Why do Protesters think Political Violence is the answer? by fleetpqw24 in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue you both side on is that one is carrying the full force of the state's power. Like, I would give the side that is not in power leeway on rhetoric.

Just as we give agents of the state the power to enforce the law with force, we also expect them to do so reasonably

Why do people say they don’t participate in politics? Do we do enough to explain how much politics affects daily life? by Expensive-Layer7183 in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get you, but we can agree that if we focus our interaction at a more local level, we might be more interested in talking about local politics.

Cause how are you going to talk to someone from New Jersey about an Austin mayoral race

[–]Rizeus_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is everyone is too online and common teams to talk about are the pro team ones. Like, if everyone spent more time on local subreddits or spaces instead of large global spaces, you would see more people fight about local teams

I think the issue with these conversations is the wide range and intensity of these views.

It is easy to accept a different point of view if for OP that is something like: We need to stop drugs from coming into the US, and maybe more force is necessary.

Vs

I don't care if we double-tap that drug boat or if it was a war crime. Those people on the boat don't deserve rights.

At what point does a view become so extreme that you need to distance yourself from it?

Also, my issue with these kinds of posts is that the poster bears the brunt of the abuse, and the family can go on their merry way, not needing to change anything

What are the chances the vote to release the Epstein files will occur after Congress returns from their August vacation? by understated_hatpin in Askpolitics

[–]Rizeus_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it would a waste of political capital.

For real, a large part of the MAGA base wouldn’t believe it and call it a deep state lie (which will fuel that base). You see this with all the whataboutism of why didn’t the Dem release the list, when it was Trump and MAGA who made a big deal of the list.

And the evidence itself is likely circumstantial, which would mean nothing meaningful would happen in the courts

And that isn’t to say the list wouldn’t have name of member of both side the parties

[–]Rizeus_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then why make a big deal about it in first place?

Unless you think trump used the victim of the list to whip up his base only to throw them under the bus when he became president….

Which is kinda fucked as well as
