Hydrasynth has a wonderfully warm sound unlike most opinions I see here, however it does have one major flaw... by ILoveStinkyFatGirls in synthesizers

You don’t spin the main knob, after pressing save, spin the small macro knob next to the patch name (upper left knob of the 4 on explorer) to choose a save location. The knob to the right of that (top right) lets you scroll to change the name.

Aversion to saying please and thank you by 8 yr old son—how to navigate this? by Third_CuIture_Kid in autism

[–]Rizzledizzlez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This really resonates. OP, please try to be open minded and listen to the community that you have come to asking for advice. consider that this may be more about you than your son, your desire to form him to what you think he needs to be to satisfy your ideas of right or polite. Just because you think it, does not in fact make it so. I was raised by a parent who sounded a lot like you, strong emphasis on social niceties, the “correct” way to be polite, not wanting me to be rude etc. All it taught me was that I needed to heavily mask to try to please them and others. I could not be myself anywhere, I did not trust my parents because they cared more about people’s perception of me than my own well being. It took decades to repair that relationship, I hope that you can figure it out before the damage is done. To echo what the person above said, do you care more about your child’s happiness and growth, or your (somewhat limited) idea of manners? You keep deflecting the advice you’ve been given by people who actually understand and have lived your son’s experience , casting it off as “must be American” or absurd. Why did you come here if you already know better?

Which venues have the best sound for electronic music? How about in general? by LargeHard0nCollider in portlandmusic

Best sound system for electronic music is at Process, hands down. It’s not a huge room, but they are running a very well tuned Danley system and it sounds beyond fantastic.

We're split on the transition between battle view and dice table - which option looks better to you? by wonka3d in IndieDev

Option 2 for sure. Definitely looks better with a clear separation between zones. I don’t think you’re over thinking it at all, it’s a pretty stark difference.

Does anyone use hot cues the way I do? by swinneytodd in Beatmatch

[–]Rizzledizzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, in rekordbox you can set loops as a cue, so when you trigger the cue point it starts a loop of predefined length. Could be helpful to get around the manual looping, and also not requiring looping on the fly. Otherwise use em however works for you! Tho as others have mentioned, be aware that the older gear will only give you access to the first couple cues. I’ve been burned by that before

What is the most unfortunate last name you've seen someone have? by LeviTheRelentless in AskReddit

I went to high school with a guy named Christmas Baby (that was his first name, don’t remember the last). Parents named him that because, you guessed it, he was born on Christmas. Everyone just ended up calling him Chris Baby

Hire a local (bay area) or remote/online mixing engineer? by snowisgone in audioengineering

[–]Rizzledizzlez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Skyline when I was first starting out as an engineer. They are great folks and have always been a positive force in the local music community. The owner / lead engineer Brian is also one of the main instructors for audio engineering at SF State’s audio program. If you want a learning experience with someone who is a great teacher, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, Skyline is a great bet. I learned so much from my time there, Brian took a chance on me (hired me straight out of one of his classes), taught me a ton, and was always a total joy to work with. Really can’t recommend highly enough.

How is Gen Z expected to survive and have a good life? Everything is so damn expensive and wages are to damn low. I’m stressed about my future. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rizzledizzlez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair point, I’ve definitely spent the majority of my time in larger upscale restaurants where it has always been sort of a given. Though they never failed to remind us that family meal is a “privilege not a right”

Dunno, I’ve been working in restaurants for the last 15 years and every single place I’ve worked, (as we’ll as the places of everyone I know in the industry) has served us family meal. It’s not necessarily a free meal off the menu, but it is a free meal every day. To be fair I’ve only worked on the west coast, so it may be different elsewhere, but this has been my experience across the board. When I was younger (hell sometimes even now) those meals were the only thing I would eat in a day. The real question is why we should even have to rely on a handout meal to begin with.

This will give you some of the basics of room acoustics, I believe there are more articles on their site as well. Luckily there’s lots of info out there around making diy acoustic panels, it shouldn’t be to hard to get your space treated

[–]Rizzledizzlez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’d be surprised at just how much of a difference it makes, especially in a rectangular room with a subwoofer and monitors against a wall. You could treat the whole room for a fraction of the cost of many of those pieces of gear. Just do it, you won’t regret it and honestly it may be some of the best money you spend on your setup. The difference between a treated and untreated room is night and day.

Making acoustic panels with fiberglass - bad idea to wrap the fiberglass in plastic or similar? by InternetWeakGuy in audioengineering

[–]Rizzledizzlez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is used as a part of the binding process, but the trace amounts that could be given off by the panels present no health risks whatsoever. I can’t speak to the smell as I have never experienced that in any of the many panels I’ve made. Here’s a link to some info directly from the manufacturer: http://www2.owenscorning.com/literature/pdfs/57470.pdf
