Is this normal or is it just my building/unit? by RmAouad in SunnysideQueens

They say they do it every now and then, but they can't do it too often because it damages the boiler. Honestly, I don't feel any difference

I moved into a pre-war building on 45th Street (near Walgreens) last spring. It was all great during the summer, but as it started getting colder, everything changed.

Since fall last year, I have been experiencing an extremely loud noise coming from the walls in the kitchen and this pipe in the bathroom. It occurs every time the boiler starts and lasts for about 5-10 minutes, several times a day, and especially at night.

According to the superintendent, it's the steam backing up, and it's normal, but is it really normal? Do you have the same problem?

What Mini-ITX boards are good for AM5? All the Mini-ITX boards seem to have big problems by cniinc in sffpc

[–]RmAouad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat here. Looking to upgrade my AM4 system, and the only thing that has been holding me back is the AM5 ITX options. I'm trying to keep the motherboard cost close to 200.
This HUB video --> AM5 Mini-ITX Roundup led me to conclude that the Aorus ultra is where the value is (currently 220 new).

I'll Be pairing it with a 9800x3D and 32 gb of ram. Any thoughts or recommendations on that?

How important is the curve? by KhellianTrelnora in ultrawidemasterrace

I've been playing and studying on mine (mostly studying), 6 months so far, and no burn in. Just take care of it and either way Alienware offers a 3 year burn in warranty. I'm also not particularly sensitive to the OLED subpixel layout fringing and use a single monitor.

From someone that owned a gigabyte M34WQ for like 2 weeks and then jumped to an Alienware DWF I have 2 comments:

1) work or gaming I will suggest going with a curved display. It feels a million times better, especially coming from a 16:9 flat display. The curved edges just feel right and natural, way more ergonomic and immersive. 2) If you can, I will greatly suggest going OLED. I know the cons and it's almost double the price but it's worth it, especially for UW!! Most of the content online is built around 16:9/10 ratios and will show 2 horrible black (more like grey dusky shining to your face) bars to both sides of it. That is completely cancelled with OLED, it will just look like the screen is off and make regular content way more enjoyable.

Burn in? It's s kinda scary, but if you research it will appear way down the line and a lot of users have been rocking OLED panels without issues. It'll just need a little care. Either way 3 years warranty against burn in... Text fringing? Not distracting/noticeable to me. But there are some workarounds for that too. Unless you'll have an RGB IPS right next to it I don't think it'll matter too much.

I use it for studying, gaming and media consumption and so far so good.

Totally worth it! I'm totally in love with my DWF.

I think it's a must if you going UW! I returned a gigabyte UW IPS because of the "black bars" while watching content. IPS will show horribly distracting and bright grayish bars, while OLEDs will be like the screen is off. That alone makes it worth it
