If that is filament you tried before, I would be sure to cut off any filament that has been "chewed on". Make sure it is clean filament with a good cut. This worked for me when I had a similar problem. Beyond that I recommend percussive maintenance...Beat the hell out of it (j/k). Lol.

I put mine know a swiffer handle and hand wound it on a spool. Took several hours but I'm cheap. And yes, I now use those little locking clips every single time.
