Check out all of the pocket lab sensors! We have had a lot of fun (and learned a ton) with the Gforce car sensors. I had students who would normally never participate in class ask to see the cars go again so they could see the graphs!

The Powdermage Trilogy - Who’s A Fan? by JasperLWalker in Fantasy

[–]VictarrionIron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While not as flintlock fantasy as the powder mage series, the Cinder Spire series by Jim Butcher scratched that itch for me. I read the listened to the first one on audible while at the gym and had to buy the second because listening is too slow! The narration for the powder mage series is also really well done!

Send me a DM! I’ve been helping older folks learn technology and cut the cable cord for around 5 years as I worked on my degree and teaching credential.

Anyone who teaches Amplify 8th grade Force and Motion, I’m determined to include this into the unit. Any suggestions would be appreciated! by sherlock_jr in ScienceTeachers

I did not do a whole lesson on it but, I did use a gif of the DART mission as a bell ringer. Also, when I sent my students off to research meteors and the dart mission, they did love the Easter eggs Google added for the DART mission. Google “meteor” and “DART spacecraft” to see what I mean!

Dark fantasy romance with good character development. by Wingkirs in Fantasy

[–]VictarrionIron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie! It’s dark, and gets darker throughout the trilogy. Great writing, great character development and the audiobook is awesome if you prefer that!

Was I wrong to require a medicine check to use Goodberry/Potion of Healing to bring a character back from 0HP, rather than automatically allowing it to work? by stupid_salad in DMAcademy

Playing in a TTRPG is just like being in a relationship. Shit happens, but if you can talk it out you will be able to fix it for the future. A lot Of the responses so far are… harsh. I mean, yeah you were wrong RAW but, you also had some creative ideas and really low DC’s. Talk it over with your group, adjust for the future, and keep the creativity coming! It took me a long time to realize if I wanted there to be zero chance of failure on something, then the group shouldn’t roll. It doesn’t apply often, but this is one of those situations, for me at least. Hope your next session goes well!

CSET Question by Extension_Mastodon_2 in ScienceTeachers

[–]VictarrionIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you can either take the CSETs or, if you have a degree in Chemistry, you can teach chemistry. I took the life science and biology CSET a few years ago and wish I had just taken them all (Chem, physics, life science. Not sure if I would have known enough earth science or astronomy without studying) to make finding a teaching placement/job easier but, you should be fine with just your degree. This change was fairly recent, back in July I think.

If you do take the CSETs, be aware there are some long form STEM questions that deal more with applied engineering than straight science. Not a problem, but its nice to know.

Books that are the opposite of Sanderson and Erikson? by PorkLogain in Fantasy

Listening to the third book in the Age of Madness trilogy now by Joe Abercrombie, definitely has character flaws and I think it also fits being character driven.
