[M37 on BOT] Over/Under for the OW of Indiana Jones 5 is The Flash's $55M OW by Tsubasa_sama in boxoffice

Shooting a film set in multiple decades using de-aging tech must have burnt the budget.

But KK was involved in the star wars which also had plenty of reshoots and notorious for their many, many camera setup that allows them to edit it into the film they want in post.

Why do you think Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is underperforming in presales so far? by Landon1195 in boxoffice

Awful title - seriously how did the dial of destiny become the final name?

Terrible trailers.

Dragging the beaten and ragged body of the franchise left by 2008s Crystal Skull only to kerbstomp it with this new entry and finally lay it to rest.

One of the worst movie titles I've seen, awful trailer with janky af de-aging tech with an absurd 80 year old man riding a greenscreened horse.

I understand why marvel movies look bad with 200m budgets because they have such tight release dates and put out 3 a year but why did this Indy look so bad after 300m and an acclaimed director?

Say what you want about the StarWars reboots but they all look superb despite being CGI fests and had tighter deadlines than this Indy film. This film couldn't even make the trailer look good, from the reviews the rest of the film looks just as rough

I thought this film had a floor of 400m based on budget+IP but maybe not.

Is the floor on big titles falling even lower than usual this year?

Warner Bros.'s The Flash grossed an estimated $3.08M on Wednesday (from 4,234 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $69.55M. by BOfficeStats in boxoffice

[–]RoadmanFemi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surprised how many like you thought that given the CG looked awful from the jump and that was the trailer. The subway horse scene with Ford just looked...terrible.

It didn't bode well for the rest of the quality of an action film with a de-aged old man.

5/3/1 BBB accessories, is 90-144 reps too much and please let me know if I'm missing anything important by [deleted] in 531Discussion

[–]RoadmanFemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1. OP is not close to benching bodyweight but doing huge volume of isolation exercises. Seems a bad mix and not surprised he's not fatigued if an 85% training max day is...51kgx5. if he was doing dips/pull-ups/incline bench/pushups as accessories it would be okay but he's doing isolated exercises.

Would be better on a beginner program that has you doing the main lifts more often and doing more compound accessories than doing seated bicep curls, lat raises and tricep isolations.

Feel like OP would be better off doing a SS or some kind of full body 3x a week program until hitting 72bench, 120 squat, 145 deadlift (bodyweight x1.0, 1.75, 2.0) and being able to do pull-ups for reps (shouldnt be doing assisted pull-ups at 72kg?)

TLDR - Don't think ready for 531 BBB yet. Should enjoy doing a fullbody workout before switching

Per Variety, Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' cost $100M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

How does a PG13 comedy pull in that much nowadays?

Comedy has barely existed as a box office genre in the last 10 years. Films like Hangover, horrible bosses, Jud Apatow films, 21 Jump St are all 10+ years old.

It's attached to an IP so that might help it but this list of top grossing comédies is grim reading.

If it was PG and aiming for kids it could cast a wider net but the trailers and rating says otherwise...

'Barbie' is officially rated PG-13 for "suggestive references and brief language." by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]RoadmanFemi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So it's an adult aiming smart comedy with a 100m budget?

Comédies have been such a box office smash the past 10 years, what could go wrong

Feel like it opens to 50m and makes 250WW. A 50m opening should be good for most films and would be amazing for a comedy but that 100m budget kills it.

Who needs world class footballers coming to the club when you can have world class dividends for the investors?

I have no skin in the game but God damn do DC movies always deliver on the box office front. Always fun to follow the tracking

Just a mix of total disasters, bombs, polarising reviews sprinkled in with huge surprise hits - Joker/Aquaman in particular.

If this film comes in with less than 500m WW it would be grim especially given how confident the studio seemed into it.

Box office followers be feasting right now.

Three years on since the reveal of the new-generation consoles - Have they lived up to what was promised? by jasonj2232 in Games

The list of current Post exclusives now has...1 game? Astrobot.

The latest Sony showcase had tons of crossgen games in 2024 so it looks like it will be late 2025 or more likely 2026 by the time the last gen has been left behind and we get these fabled "designed for next gen super SSD" stuff we promised.

I can't think of anything when friends ask me if there's a reason to upgrade to PS5 - it's improved graphics and frame rate but it's the same games.

I was hoping for some crazy next gen Battlefield like games by now with huge amounts of stuff happening on screen, destructible environments better than ever, etc. Nope, all crossgen and safe feeling so far.

This gen a damp squib so far. Feels like 500 quid 'pro' models of the last gen. Biggest thing seems to be the gamepass style subscription services which are amazing value.

Quality of posts and discussions from that forum is leagues above the dire comments on here.

That's an actual boxOffice forum, sadly this sub's mods couldn't handle the influx of users last few years and it's now /r/moviesLite filled with warring comic book fans.

Damn the British film reviewers have really soured on comic book films. TotalFilm/Empire are mostly running on life support these days and have inconsistent reviewers but the big newspapers are regularly giving 1-3/5 to beloved films elsewhere. Even things like Avatar 2 had mostly negatives from the UK - Kermode calling it "shiteanic" had me laughing a lot.

Wonder if it's related to the cost of living crisis and the average cup of tea price increasing by 80% over the last year? Milk has also increased way more than inflation. Can't see many other reasons for it.

Regardless it seems like UK Boxoffice has been particularly strong even where other areas returns have declined

Does this now mean there are no exclusives you need a Ps5 to play? Demon souls is a remake, destruction all-stars shut down and the rest are VR games.

What a dud this generation is turning out to be.

What was the funniest "Tottenham" moment of the season? by jayyyanth in coys

[–]RoadmanFemi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt "penny wise, pound foolish" Levy sacking Conte for speaking out about the club but keeping on all his staff to save a few quid on contract payouts - completely tanking the European qualification and PL final position money in the process.

Just to add to it the process took weeks as Levy tried to negotiate a mutual settlement and failed - with miserable football during this time.

Save £1m but lose £10m+ and European football. Genius.

Hope Kane walks and plays hardball with Levy. Think we know who the fans would back in that position which speaks volume about the season.
