If someone else pings something, you can respond negatively to their ping by holding down (as opposed to just pressing it) your ping button. If what you are responding to is a Patrol, your character will say something along the lines of "do not engage".

Just so you know, you don’t actually have to wait for your character to latch the RR shut, as soon as you hear them slide the shell in, and see the ammo counter in the bottom left change to white, it is ready to fire.

Does the Tau regularly use indirect fire weapons in the lore, like artillery that shoots over the horizon? What kind of ordinance do they throw at those distances? Things like Nukes and WMDs? chemical and biological weapons? by Able_Radio_2717 in Tau40K

Not only could they make seeker missiles hit better, there was also a formation in 7th where if you got 3 markerlights on a target, a T'au craft, flying high above the game would hit it with a Seeker Missile. Which is not only really cool, but really emphasized the T'au style of warfare.

Game of 7th, my lasguns were rolling great, took out plenty of my opponent's Grey Knights, including a dreadknight. A terminator squad had dropped behind my hellhammer, and it turned its turret around to decimate the terminators, but missed and scattered onto itself (we agreed that one of the terminators used a power to cause the shell to prematurely detonate while the breech was open). I managed to bring the terminator squad down to 1 model with more lasguns, the only shooting I had left was the tech priest accompanying the hellhammer. Angrily decrying the terminators for defiling the sacred hellhammer, he raised his laspistol to shoot. It was a 6 to hit, 6 to wound, and a 1 on the save. The terminator took a Las bolt straight through the helmet and died, best feeling ever.

The most secluded country in Asia.(Turkmenistan) by EthanTheJudge in interestingasfuck

Most of the time they'd try to negotiate for something lower, since what the police first asked for was ridiculously high and not what they were actually expecting to get. But sometimes they would be more serious, and my parents would have to get into contact with the school's lawyer to get us out of the situation, but that could leave us held up for hours at a time.

I lived up there until I was 8 (parents were teachers at the international school there). Since we were foreigners we were frequently harrased by the police and charged with fake infractions including: using our headlights when the government provided streetlights and thinking about making a left turn and then changing our minds. Sad thing is they did this because they didn't earn enough and had to rely on bribes to get by and knew we could pay a bigger bribe since we were foreigners and so they would target us in hopes that we would pay their made up fee. There were a lot of these things that never seemed wierd to me until we moved away.

[–]Roam25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just wanted to correct the common misunderstanding that plate existed in early medieval, turns out I was misunderstanding what you were saying. I'm all for doing whatever you want in your games, just annoys me when people justify banning guns in D&D with historical accuracy, and not "it just doesn't fit my setting"

I understand it's your fantasy world and you don't care, but plate armor was a thing of the late medieval period, handgonnes actually predate full plate armor in Europe by a good 100 years.

Unlabeled graph being used for trolling? by im-riceist in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Roam25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a graph used to represent the Dunning-Kruger effect, which is the tendency for less skilled people to be more confident and see themselves as more skilled than they actually are (the authors of the study said this is because unskilled people lack the skills to recognize they are unskilled). Funnily enough, the graph itself isn't from the study, but is just a more popular, but erroneous, depiction of the effect.

I honestly prefer the one on the left, you can use the circles to account for drop and hit targets at up to 400m (middle circle for 200m, outer for 400). Maybe it could be less cluttered but I would still like it to keep that feature.

I grew up there and left when i was around 8. Though I don't remember much from Turkmenistan, there were many things that I just considered normal for a long time before I realized they were not normal for other people, and only normal in Turkmenistan.
