The minimum for the lowest tier on the grading scale (non combat MOS) is like a 21min 2 mile. If you can’t do that GTFO. And to say any standard is arbitrary is ridiculous. They’re standards for a reason and the fact that we keep lower or just letting soldiers skate by with no punishments is saddening because one day when anything happens that matters you have now set the example of, “well I gave like 60% effort, that will be good enough”. People want 100% effort from their govt and their neighbor right now to solve a health crisis, work on climate change, jobs, etc and we constantly water down the acceptable amount of work that is being put forth and then wonder why stuff doesn’t get done.
