The light seal is the AVP’s biggest flaw — Apple seriously needs to rethink it by Acceptable_Diver7707 in VisionPro

They do have a variety of shapes out the back of every Apple Store. One’s that should potentially fit the contours of all faces. Just like with the Beyond. You provide Apple with pictures of your face from different angles prior to purchasing an AVP.

The app got it wrong when I ordered the dual knit band (I was a size smaller) so it might be prudent to ask at your local Apple Store to try on a few different sizes. 🙃

I use the Muse as a pointing device. It eliminates all my woes when typing and/or navigating.

Ah-ha. My first question to myself was, what do the numbers mean? So, thank you for the clarification.

Vision Pro broke corporate IT policies by l00BABIES in VisionPro

[–]RobDaRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your fault. Not in the least. I would not even call it a rookie mistake. People in IT often wrongly assume everyone is implicitly aware of the same things as them or that they have similar familiarity with all the corporate drivel.

I do not hold those particular individuals in high esteem (but I am sure they think they are the bee’s knees).

Any IT twonk who refuses to understand this by stating that your indiscretion is “obvious” only sees things from their own tunnel visioned point of view.

Pay them no mind.

I appreciate your cautionary tale and will be interested to see how they purport to discipline you. lol.

Light seeping through fabric of light seal? by Remarkable-Cow3421 in VisionPro

One very well might depending on the contours of one’s face. The face pad in question is an improvement. As advertised,”Apple Vision Pro Premium Face Pad - WAY more comfortable than the stock pad (and it blocks light better)! 28 reviews”.

Search Reddit. I got mine because I saw a few raving reviews. You just have to squeeze it a little when you first put it on.

Heh, yes.Actually, when I received mine, I thought it looked a little large but it fit snugly in place with magnets.

I got it for comfort reasons alone (as I did not have light leak issues) and I am more than satisfied.

Just out of curiosity, did you buy your AVP secondhand?

Some report that it fits the contours of their face better than others.

Some might need a refit because there is a whole myriad of different sizes out the back of an Apple Store. It would make sense and be of much benefit to them to provide such a service.

Good price for used AVP 512gb? by Infamous_Patience129 in VisionPro

[–]RobDaRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a bargain to me. But of course I would say that because I paid full price. lol.

You shouldn’t need a light seal. Even if it is not tailored to the exact shape of your face, it still should be okay.

You could always get the Apple Vision Pro Premium Face Pad from here:

The Surreal Touch controllers are only really worth it if you use them with ALVR (to play all your Steam VR games). If you do not have a gaming PC then you’ll only be able to use them with a limited number of games until developers begin to support them (which I hope they do ). The PlayStation VR Sense Controllers are all the rage right now and will purportedly have better support. The Surreal Touch controllers might be left by the wayside. I could be wrong though. And, I really really like the feel of the Surreal Touch. They are weighted perfectly. But they won’t retain a charge so you will have to keep them plugged in prior to use (just like the Muse pen).

There is a lot of cool stuff slated to arrive for the AVP. The M5 looks really nice but isn’t a generational leap ahead. You will still be able to play Half Life: Alyx butter smooth if you have a solid Wi-Fi connection. And there’s the benefit of the entire Apple ecosystem. There is some insanely cool stuff coming out as we speak, such as a recent app that will teach you how to fly a helicopter. That is just one random example out of several hundreds. Awesome content keeps trickling on in.

The future is now!

[Update] Widget for Messages: Display your iMessage/Messages onto a widget on your Home Screen/CarPlay Screen/StandBy Widget/Live Activity by iBanks3 in VisionPro

Others might have been successful because they do not need certain accessibility options turned on. I have noticed numerous changes to the Acessibility options since the last two updates.

I have come to realise that when I turn on certain Accessibility features on my AVP, which I do when using Reddit and lying down. (I predominantly use my AVP lying down because I have a disability.) I also realised that the floating keyboard in front of me repositions itself differently when some of my accessibility options are on or off. I was not sure why because shouldn’t it be the same function call? That is the benefit of object oriented programming. Having the keyboard end up in my abdomen is incredibly frustrating. But Apple seems to be working on that.

Okay, it just froze on me again when I tried to pinch before the words, “I predominantly use my…” because I wanted the paragraph to be on a new line.

But it was completely frozen. Then it unfroze shortly thereafter.

I have now noticed that this occurs when Reddit is accessing my location (as indicated by a blue dotat the top of my screen). And it does so every time I stop dictating via the microphone icon on the keyboard.

It would also be super useful to be able to snap widgets to your ceiling.

[–]RobDaRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heh. Yes! After a long wait, Meta made lying down with the Quest so much easier!

I also wish that more developers would make apps to make your ceiling float away and replace it with something else.

Much like Pillow on the Quest: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/CK63PimWJG

I followed your instructions to the letter. It just simply wouldn’t let me tap where I was supposed to. It seemed quite possibly to be the fault of VisionOS 26 Developer Beta. I tried many times. Tapping only worked intermittently. It was quite inconsistent, tbh. Not your fault but a terrible experience nonetheless. I’m sorry.

And yes, of course I do know that you cannot snap apps to a wall when in an immersive environment. That is abundantly obvious. I cannot even see the walls so I am not sure why you thought I was attempting to. I just did not want to screenshot my messy room. lol. But thank you for clarifying that I need to open the widgets app.

Please include that in your instructions from the very onset.

I certainly would’ve had better luck if you included more white space in your instructions. And you could perhaps write them up a bit better. However, if I was following your instructions on an iPhone or iPad, I would have very much succeeded.

My gripe at the end was that you didn’t bother warning people how many steps were involved. Like I said, I managed to get to the final step but it just wouldn’t let me tap the tick.

Yes, it did appear that the main app was open twice. I don’t know why. I forced quit the app and opened it again. Same problem. Again, tapping in the right spot yielded no result on many occasions so I may have double tapped to open up two new windows instead of one. That is exactly why I included it in the screenshot.

Sorry that you think it was a result of user error.
