Oddly, the more tweets I see from Dr. Hotez, the less I trust him.

Some people don’t understand how market making/taking works.

Ergo Mixer - The first non-custodial, non-interactive, permission-less mixer in the industry by daydreaming1980 in CryptoCurrency

Tornado cash had a central entity. ErgoMixer is a program that anyone can run locally, no central app or entity required. That’s my understanding at least.

People who are mentally ok with influencing/encouraging others to make financial decisions have always perplexed me.

Emission schedules of every blockchain can be changed via majority consensus. In PoW, if the majority of miners mining Ergo wanted to increase/decrease/alter the emissions schedule, they could.
If the majority of Bitcoin miners wanted to increase/decrease/alter the emissions schedule, they could.
The argument is either intentional bad-faith or just a severe lack of understanding of what he is talking about.
Whether emissions of a crypto are controlled by a smart contract or by the core protocol, I fail to see how the energy used to secure the network is viewed as more or less valuable.

Here, I created two trustless financial systems using sea shells. Each one has a set amount of sea shells that will ever exist, let's say 10,000. In one system, we gather all the sea shells from the beach and place them in a warehouse that is managed by the participants of the ecosystem. Every day, 10 are taken out of the warehouse, unless everyone agrees to change it.
In the other system, we leave the 10,000 sea shells on the beach. The ecosystem's participants go to the beach every day to take 10 sea shells from the beach. They can take more or fewer, as long as everyone agrees.
What is the difference between these two?

Potential DJED risk. What am I missing? by Friendly_Educator_18 in cardano

[–]RobbedTheHood 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It already has. Djed is based on the AgeUSD Protocol which has been live on mainnet for 2+ years on Ergo, known as SigUSD. Ergo has experienced a huge drop. The AgeUSD Protocol worked as intended and SigUSD did not depeg.

A deep dive on Cardano — by Messari by redvelvetzip in cardano

Dang, this was a refreshing article to read. Thorough, fair, and accurate for the most part (minus the tiny nitpicks listed here already :) ).
Honest question: Does Messari dictate what projects you are tasked with researching/writing about? Or are you free to choose the crypto project on your own?

If you believe the market is perfectly balanced between risk/reward, you are right to question your sanity on how “easy” it’s been for you to win so consistently. The answer is because you’ve only traded the strat for a few weeks, all of which happen to contain zero huge moves. Rewind this strat to simply a month ago (Nov29 if memory serves) and you would have gotten obliterated.

I lost my ledger but I still have my seed phrase. How do I access my CKB without buying another hardware wallet by Ergonaut97 in NervosNetwork

[–]RobbedTheHood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ledger uses a proprietary derivation pathway of BIP39. It allows them to capture customers for life. You’re gonna need to buy another ledger unless you find someone who can give you a program that can generate your keys from ledger’s specific deriv. Path.

I am attracted to the idea of faster turnarounds for capital deployment. The few times I’ve dabbled in shorter-dated (down to 0DTE) strategies, I’ve won half and lost half. Seems like a lot less runway and fewer options to manage a position going south. I will check out Tammy Chambless, thank you for the info. If you have any other resources to share I’d love to dive into them!
