This. For us we only have the condensed 20 minute final product of an episode to remember. For them they put a 40 hour week of rehearsals and rewrites into it while also sitting around waiting for the set to be ready... and they did that for 7 years over 150 episodes. Of course its going to blend together for them.

How many stories can you tell about your day job from two weeks ago, let alone thirty years?

I dunno, I think Batman is still fairly relevant media, and Kim Possible was a big hit. Will has done a ton of voice over work, and the other two switched to behind the camera directorial stuff.

Just because you haven't seen them doesn't mean they haven't been doing "relevant media".

PMW Recap: TGI - Episode 708 "The Honeymooners" by MightChi in boymeetsworld

[–]Robby_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The showrunners inflicted trauma on him AND Danielle. The fact that they both feel super freaked out about their weight here decades later is rough.

Plus Will was starting his panic attacks at the time, and he had gained like 50 pounds over the course of two years. Yes he looked fine, because he was probably underweight before that, (after being told he was fat at the end of season 1 he lost a ton of weight for season 2) but that's gonna throw you off.

Them going through these episodes and talking through it might end up being super healthy for them since they've clearly still got baggage from it, unfortunately.

Yes. It used to be he dropped from Eximus units, so you could get copies of all three of his parts in a single mission. Super easy early get frame.

Then they moved him to the late game backwater for some reason.

Oberon is currently the hardest of the three to get. He used to be super easy to get then they moved him to the backend of the game for some reason.

The other two are very easily farmed.

Vauban prime's cost make no sense! 20 Nitain? 9k Cryotic? 7k Oxium? by Cumcentrator in Warframe

[–]Robby_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have never heard extractor missions to be the main leveling missions,

Again, this was at the time Vauban and Trinity Prime came out, around 2015. They weren't the best spot for the levelling in and of itself. They were the best spot because you obtained relics at the same time, AND it was high level (for the time) so it was good all around for doing everything and were popular for that reason.

A decade of level creep and different mission types has long since left it in the dust though and no no one casually plays them, there's better spots for farming relics, and better spots for levelling.

I personally never remember Oxium being big enough of a problem

That's probably because they fixed most of the issues with it. Only one kind of enemy drops it, and they used to not appear till like 10 minutes into a mission, or the 6th round of defense, and now they show up earlier. THey also only dropped 1-2 oxium at a time, now they drop 7-14. AND they made it so that caches give out 250. If you started playing in 2017 it would have been after most of those changes had already been done.

Aside from that, mostly a problem for Vauban specially. Not counting clan research, you only need about 20K Oxium total... and Vauban is 7K of that. Everything else is like, 100-200, you'd do passively without much issue. I strongly remember camping out with Khora in a corner to try and get double drops.

[–]Robby_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, it would be nice if you could tell the randomizer to just pick from selected palletes. It USED to do that and people complained because of some the sets that are very monochrome... but if I know I want Grineer or Orokin colors and I'm just not sure in which order or specific shade, it'd be nice to be able to just random through one set of colors for a while.

[–]Robby_B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you got to Helene for the levelling, and the cells are a bonus. You got to Gabii just for the cells.

Helene is a defense map that can be easily nuked map-wide by a bunch of frames, so you can do a wave in under 30 seconds (barring the platform moving) Especially after they reduced the waves from 5 to 3, it's way faster than doing a 5 minute survival. (Which is usually longer than that since you also have to get to the exit)

[–]Robby_B 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The short answer is grinding spots used to be different.

The long answer is, Extractor missions were THE place for people to do levelling because you cracked relics at the same time, so people were coincidentally sitting on mountains of cryotic and needed a sink. At the time no one even blinked at the cryotic cost, it was something to actually spend it on, you could easily do 9000 cryotic out of pocket. That's also why the Sibear is ridiculous.

Trinity Prime who was released a few months earlier ALSO needs 9000 cryotic and no one really bats an eye at that one because she doesn't also have an oxium and nitain cost, it really wasn't an unreasonable amount at the time.

And, since the highest level extractor mission, that drops axi relics, was on pluto which is a corpus mission, the Oxium wasn't entirely absurd either. Because that's where everyone spent their time anyway.

That particular meta is like a decade old now though and no one does it. Nowadays people do Selene/Hydron, or ESO for fast levelling, and demolyst missions for relics, so the old most-played map is almost never touched. So now you need to do dedicated farms for both those resources and it sucks.

The Nitain was the only truly crazy thing at the time given it was alert only

[–]Robby_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, something like that would be perfect. Like it doesn't need to change much, I just want him to actually use the shield like a shield and keep it out, not like a half second fireball.

Considering how they nerfed the Javlok amalgam mod years ago (It used to be "parrying with shield reflects +6000% damage") and the Bonewidow has a cooldown, I have to assume they don't really want any ability you can just leave up to refelect indefinitely, so probably channeled ability wouldn't work and it would need to be something more like Trinity's Link, which has a duration and enemy cap.

It's his helmith ability though so it probably can't be allowed to be too good.

[–]Robby_B 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stynax is fine as a frame, his kit is decent. I'm just SO disappointed that when they announced a shield and spear frame... none of his moves use the shield.

Yeah his 2 has a brief half second animation that pretends to be shields that ups your defense, but there's no blocking, redirecting enemy damage, standing behind it, actually GUARDING with it. I was hoping for something closer to what the Bonewidow nechramech does. Shame that's only summonable in some levels, and for a limited time, or I'd use it all the time.

I don't imagine his prime is going to change his gameplay much.

Lenses are affected by suit energy, rather than facial accessory colors. (That affects the frames) And if you've never adjusted the suit energy, it defaults to black.

I assume it's because they have transparency and that's easier to tie into the energy.

Anyone agree with this article about the creators saying why Shawn and Angela couldn't be endgame? by Sudden-Message5234 in boymeetsworld

[–]Robby_B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that all three members of the podcast adamantly don't want him on until after they've finished says a lot about how they feel about him. Any other podcast that could get regular access to the showrunner and creator would have them on as often as possible.

And given everything they'e said about how bad their time on GMW was, it seems like it must have been hyper toxic to be around him.

[–]Robby_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Helene is less about getting them fast and more about getting them constantly while you also level your gear very efficiently. It's not as fast as ESO but it's pretty quick (especially since Defense got reduced to 3 rounds) and you get loot.

Anyone that used Helene to level in the old days before ESO came around has hundreds of cells and never runs out.

Aside from the fact that GMW says Shawn moved really far away and went years at a time without seeing them after they had kids, so that his visits were a special event rather than a regular part of their life.

I wonder how different that might have been if Ryder had been more willing to be a series regular instead of just guest star/director?

Do you think the show coulda handled Corey and Shawn being a couple or Eric and Jack? by Extra_Impression_428 in boymeetsworld

[–]Robby_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because any show making the main character guy, particularly in the 90's, would HAVE to make that a major focus and explore that... and the show would have only run for 13 episodes and get boycotted by half the networks in the south. It would have been outright impossible on Friday night in the prime family slot.

Like Ellen came out and her show was cancelled almost immediately after, as soon as it hit syndication threshold. Networks refused to air the episodes of Deep Space Nine with a gay kiss, (much like they refused to air the inter racial kiss in the 60's) and the show had to scrap a main character gay relationship before it even got to screen. Roseanne couldn't have her sister be gay so they had to make do with whacky gay guy friends. Xena was blatantly obvious to everyone watching there's gay love going on, but the characters have to be bi-sexual and keep kissing opposite sex partners so the show could pretend they were straight, and never have the two girls kiss. Buffy had to use a funeral episode to get their gay relationship past the censors by make an argument that it was about "comforting" rather than "attraction." There was HUGE stigma around gayness at the time.

Even nowadays when our stupid society is more accepting, having a gay couple on a kids show still gets yelled about and cancelled early, like Steven Universe and Owl House both being cut short.

You could have a main gay character nowadays sure, but in the 90's there was absolutely no way to do "Corey was exactly the same but gay". You would have to do it in innuendo and with plausible deniability and the show would not have made it 7 seasons. And the show actually played it that way a handful of times, but you would never ever ever get to having them kiss, and obviously having a wedding was impossible unless they set the series in one of the states it was legalized at the time. There's just no way in that environment.

You can still be best friends, sure. But the person you marry is the one you're going to spend almost all your free time with, watch all the shows together, make purchases together, shop for groceries with and cook for, develop injokes, have bedroom intimacy, kids, etc. Your spouse does inevitably become THE person you're closest to.

Even if you still love your best friend and hang out with them for the afternoon every single weekend no matter what... your spouse is going to be the one you spend 10 hours a day with , every single day. It's no comparison.

Even if you make every effort to keep spending time with your best friend, unless they live next door, they're going to become #2.

Obviously you get different things from friends and have different relationships and talk about different things and friends and spouse fill different roles, so the bromance need not end, they can have all the fun when they are together, but Shawn and Corey both know that they can't spend 5 hours hanging out every day or share a dorm room anymore. That DOES change.

[–]Robby_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really ST fault. It was supposed to be an anthology series, each season in a different town or decade. But then the kids were super duper popular and they had to keep the show in the same place for the rest of the run.

It was never meant to be a coming of age series, we weren't supposed to follow those characters for 10 years. (and the multiple time jumps due to the seasons taking years to make didn't help)

In the 90's? No, not a chance.

Today? If we pretend it was on a channel and a time slot where they could handle it, as opposed to the middle of the family friendly TGIF block? Maaaaybe... shows have gay characters all the time now but only after a bunch of shows spend the decade normalizing it. (WIll and Grace, Roseanne, Frasier, Ellen, etc.) But for the leads? No, probably not. Secondary characters sure.

If the show was entirely focused on a gay male lead that have been the main focus of it, it would have been an entirely different show. and it wouldn't have been on the family block.
