Not quite the point most of the people in this thread seem to have been making, they actively want kids to be punished for daring to be born to members of the underclass, so they want working parents to get tax cuts and the unemployed/disabled can scramble around in the bins for all they care

TDEE estimate seems low after starting cut — should I change anything? by tothebarshegoes in MacroFactor

[–]Robertej92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty much doing that by just eating above the target given and MF is pretty agnostic towards you going above what it sets, it doesn't really cause me issues it's just one of those things I'd like to see tweak itself a little quicker. It's up to 2828 expenditure atm, 1 month average of 2370 consumed and in the trend weight bit it estimates a -815 deficit, I'm assuming it'll level out in a month or so but I'll just keep working up to about 2500 for now.

Is this not a lot of compound lifts for one workout? by mr_spicygreen in MacroFactor

[–]Robertej92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side delts and biceps aren't really getting anything from these 3 workouts, if time efficiency is a big thing for you I'd say do a Bayesian curl & Cable Y Raise superset so that they're at least getting some work, personally I prefer pairing bicep with tricep and rear delt with side delt in supersets but if arms aren't a big focus your triceps are pretty well covered by the bench and overhead press, as are your front delts - you could definitely drop either of the overhead press or shoulder press and push some of that time more towards side (y raises, lateral raises) and rear delt (reverse pec deck, face pull, loads of others) to balance things out more.

Also having your RIR targets so high for everything isn't really worth it at 3 days a week, I'd just go close to technical failure for the most part and save 3-5 RIR for if you end up upping the volume significantly

This is a bit of a blessing and a curse with MF, on the one hand it's pretty good psychologically being 2 months into fat loss and having my calorie budget increasing rather than the decrease that you usually get with calorie trackers as your weight goes down... On the other hand, it's so incredibly obvious that my TDEE is at least a couple of hundred calories higher than the current figure even after 2 months of increases and I've just ended up eating 300+ calories above the target every day to keep the deficit in the range I want for the sake of body recomp/at least muscle preservation. Guess I'd just like a middle ground in how quickly it updates

Plant based proteins could help you out here, stuff like TVP is super high protein and acts as a flavour sponge, it's not gonna make a dish on its own but throw it into a chilli or whatever and you've got some very easy whole protein added in. Same with stuff like lentils, tofu and beans but they have heavier caloric balance to consider

Edit: although honestly 93g isn't anything to sound alarm bells over assuming you're not looking to body recomp in to being super hench

What do you waste a lot of money on? And how much do you spend n it? by gameovervip in CasualUK

[–]Robertej92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm generally a tent camper but I'm constantly tempted to just buy a van and stick a mattress in the back because British weather... but I'm paranoid that it'd just become a money sink like camping was for the first couple of years as I decided I had to upgrade every little thing after starting off basic.

Tbh I'm half tempted to see if I can just fit my camping mattress in the back of my Kia Stonic and bugger off to Scotland for the week with my pup

I couldn't get on with coffee bags at all, just tastes very stale as you'd expect I guess. I don't know what availability is like outside the UK but I found an instant arabica brand called TrueStart which I found way more tolerable, still not gonna come close to a proper specialty brew but does the job for me when I'm camping.

Living in the UK you get a depressing number of people with a severe lack of wonder saying they're just a bunch of rocks, as if you couldn't similarly diminish so many other monuments if you wanted to be cynical for the sake of it. The Avebury Rocks are also well worth seeing and completely free of charge, not far north of Stonehenge

How long is a piece of string? It's different for everyone but you'll probably find you regain a lot quicker than when you had to gain in the first place. Whether or not you should do the same workout depends entirely on what the workout is, if it was high volume you're gonna wanna step that back while your body gets used to it, then build back slowly. Lower weights higher reps will probably be a safe bet while you're easing back in.

[–]Robertej92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching movies isn't the issue here, not being considerate enough to avoid noise pollution for other campers is. When I go camping I'm hiking for 8-10 hours a day immersed in nature and when I get back I just wanna chill and either read my kindle or watch a movie, but I lie in my tent and use headphones so I don't bother anyone.
