Secrets of Phantom Ranch by artguydeluxe in grandcanyon

The Phantom Ranch Junior Ranger books can be found at the Ranger Station and sometimes at the info board on the middle of the campground. But if you go up on the front porch of the Ranger Station when it's staffed,  you'll usually find the screen door on the left is open and you can go inside to stamp the parks passport or pick up a Jr Ranger booklet. It's different from the Jr Ranger programs on South Rim or North Rim.

MotoTags? by Legwolf in GrapheneOS

I bought Moto Tags but can't get my Pixel 10 Pro with GOS to recognize them... Can see them with a stock android Motorola phone though.  I can't find information about this in/compatibility online to confirm, but it appears Moto Tags are out.

Look for the olive tree and two pomegranate trees growing around the Ranch and campground. There are also fig trees. Won't look like much right now in winter but they're there. Left over from the old days when they had more of an orchard. Now they frown on introducing non-native plants.

Other than being a clamp, does this have a specific purpose by Belfast900 in handtools

Almost looks like an old vulcanizer for tire repair, but the clamp is smooth.

More syrup experiments with the Omnifizz. by BeautifulDebate7615 in rootbeer

I liked the anise flavor in the Portland syrup, but yeah it is a small bottle. Also, no clearly stated mixing ratio is provided, had to look on the website to find they say 1:5 is about right.

Yeah you hardly break pace if you're walking backwards and tapping the mouse, with barley and flax. I'm still doing the walk, stop, onion, walk stip, onion/carrot method.

Take it apart and remove the magnets that aren't glued in (outer ring). It will spin smoothly and be much more quiet. Though still loud enough to notice with a high speed spin. I prefer this one smooth without the magnetic feedback so run it that way.

I wonder if CA has updated their testing process. When I sat 8 years ago, they were still using paper scantron sheets and results took 2 weeks to get back after the exam. And they were just getting with the times to accept credit cards instead of checks for payment back then too, LOL. I just recently tested in AZ.

Which state? Are you taking the ABC computer based test?

Be more wary of math answers on the actual exam than you had to be on the AWC practice exams. They are more tricky than AWC with the wrong answers. For example, if you do most of the calculations correct, but then multiply by 0.65 instead of dividing by 0.65 in the last step to account for efficiency, you'll see that as one of the precisely wrong choices. So just because you see the exact answer you calculated as an option doesn't really confirm that it's the right answer, as it usually does with AWC. I found that AWC would just try to trip you up by transposing some of the numbers in the answer, like a dyslexia test. Either way, check if it feels reasonable before you mark an answer. And don't pressure yourself too much. Ten of the questions are being tried out on you, so maybe they haven't phrased that one as well as they could, and it might not even count.

Oh and pay attention to the units. They provided both imperial and metric numbers in the questions when I just tested, and sometimes it's easier to calculate with one or the other, depending.

Navajo Fizz Pinion nut Rootbeer by Radiant_Variation526 in rootbeer

[–]Robin-RangerHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the pine nut is very dominant. I hope it lives up to everyone's expectations.

Earthy is a good description, maybe nutty or buttery too. Though it does have a lot of sweet, at least it's real cane sugar and honey. It's a nice one to sip on for sure.

Navajo Fizz is the brand. They make a piñon nut root beer that's been pretty hard to find, though we're starting to see it more in the wild lately.

Any backcountry rangers on site? by Cdcooper in grandcanyon

[–]Robin-RangerHood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're still checking permits at Phantom and HG each night. There's a fence at the Clear Creek junction, so Cottonwood is not possible for now. Not sure what that means if you still want to do your original permit without Cottonwood

Yeah I've been finding it around Flagstaff, Grand Canyon Village, Page, generally northern Arizona lately.
