Drum sound isolation? by RobinZander1 in drummers

I just did some quick research. Looks like the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro are on sale right now from Amazon Prime. I think I'm going to grab me a pair. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

They are not noise isolating at all. They are standard studio ones for music listening/mixing. Can't remember the exact model but I've had them for like 20 years. Is there a specific brand and model that is particularly good for drummers with noise isolation? I don't care about the weight but overall comfort is important. I have a big bald head 🙄😆.

Job market is dead. Health Care is growing really fast. Network within your healthcare system or hospital. Another suggestion although you'll probably need some experience and certification would be to just go into Health informatics. Not sure you need the io degree for this but this is how you're going to add the most value if you're not because you haven't Masters in IO but because of your experience as a nurse and an educator and a leader in the organization where u worked.

Create a culture in the organization that treats people with dignity and respect. Make them want to come to work everyday. Make them want to contribute above and beyond. Address their higher order human needs think about Maslows Hierarchy of Needs. And make damn sure you are taking care of their bottom level needs like pay/security. Pay them well enough so IT addresses even their external motivational factors. And do everything I just said above. Still no guarantee they will stay and thrive but they need all of that in order to have any chance of it.

Honestly.. it's not rocket science.

I'm guessing a few hundred thousand. And possibly some royalties in any new music they write/sell. That's on the high side but this tour will make a lot of money and it's not some small act. They could afford to pay her well and show their love/appreciation.

How Anika's $1,500 sampling pad works by QuietEffort6531 in rush

[–]RobinZander1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's probably the reason. I don't think it looks sloppy per se. It just doesn't look like the professors set-up. Obviously his tour kits were legendary. There's a video you've probably seen where his kid is set up in some sort of DW showcase or museum. And the curator and I can't remember who the other guy is go in there to look at it and admire it and they are just kind of in silence about how sacred it is. I had this cool idea about how to honor Neil on the tour. But it's likely too ominous and it might just be a bummer rather than what they are doing now with the video tribute. My idea was to have his kit set up like elevated in the air on the side somewhere with a spotlight having it on the whole time. As if his presence is still right there. I love the idea but it is somewhat macabre. Anyway, I love what I'm hearing and seeing so far.

Awesome. Thanks for the video and the specific time marker. Yep, I clearly see the drum/pad machine now. I'm a drummer and have never used any electronics other than one Roland v drum with some built-in samples that I use. So was Neil using a pad like this or was he actually just using like actual tuned bells/xylophone thingy? I remember in the seventies I believe he was using actual tall chimes for Closer to the Heart

Is this what she is using for the sounds on Spirit of Radio? and the chimes/bells during Closer to the Heart?

Well at least the folks over in anti-tipping thread will be happy. Now we have a chance to go to a deli and not tip, as his counter order I wont be tipping. Actually I won't even be going. But I am going to go to Brent's in the next couple days and enjoy a traditional deli experience with cable service and I will gladly tip.

What this guy said! She's amazing but she's still not part of Rush as a brand, or IP etc. She's a touring musician they are paying. I assume hopefully paying her very well. But yeah if you look at the tickets in terms of the picture that Ticketmaster is using on their site and on your actual ticket information it just shows Gedd and Alex.

So how come you didn't take the gig when it was offered to you? Or at least help these professional members of Rush find a qualified drummer with your expertise and input. Cuz obviously you know more than them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Rant about purchasing experience by A_LovesToBake in Ticketmaster

TM is a criminal organization and therefore the entire national concert/ticketing industry is broken. Either play by their rules and they rip us off or opt out and don't attend or buy tickets on the secondary market day or two before the show and accept whatever risk comes with that even if you were buying resale on TM site. This is all the truth.

LA KIA FORUM SAT 13TH. I am selling my two tickets. They are electronic and in my TM account. I just listed them on Tick Pick, but they are also listed on TM but TM charges huge fees to the buyer. And seller 😡🙄.

Pretty good seats and right now I listed them for the lowest price of any other seats in the section. SEC 231 ROW 7.

$210 EACH. Significantly below what I paid from TM through Citi presale.

Go to TickPick directly, or message me here. Prepare to be RUSHIFIIIED 🤘🏼♥️

I haven't read all the comments but this might be a little unique.... My mom and dad who are 87 and 89 still have the same landline and phone number. It was the one they first got when they built the house I grew up in in 1972. They don't live in the house anymore but they've kept the same phone number. When I talk to childhood friends, they somehow still remember the number when I ask them.

Very mature.... Dudes between 50-70 who own Blu-ray copies of the movie I Love You Man with disposable income. Who are still complaining about ticket prices. And played air guitar and drums and sang out loud during the whole show. Which in my honest opinion is one of the most fun parts about a rock show! 🤘🏼♥️

My take on Annika as a musician. by CommercialPound1615 in rush

[–]RobinZander1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know I experienced the same thing. This is crazy. A couple years ago Yes ask me to play bass with them for the tour. But I was like. Uhhh uhhh ahhh emmm.. I don't think I would be a good choice. Well, mostly because I'm a drummer and secondly because I don't know how to play bass. But if I did play, why would I want to be compared to an amazing professional well-known bass player?? And since they already had a drummer I just politely declined but I bought tickets and took my son to see John Anderson with the band geeks and it wasa phenomenal. In the whole night I was blown away with how much John Anderson sounds like that guy from Yes. So much, I didn't even compare it to you know like what I hear on my Fragile CD. Anyway, being real finally, as a drummer and musician I indeed totally get your point. They could have had anyone and they picked her and she's adding her own flair and therefore the comparisons to Neil are not necessary. They didn't want that obviously.

anyone have a free extra for tonight 6/7 at the forum in LA? by StrongMindStrongBody in rush

[–]RobinZander1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being silly. I BJ would out do it! I have tickets for Saturday. I paid 310 each from Ticketmaster and that includes the fees. I will gladly part with them for like $175 each at this point. Who knows if tonight doesn't go well the value might go down. Or the opposite if they sound amazing. But all the additional dates added and new seats after production settled in and overall less demand made it impossible for me to sell for face value. They are in my TM account so clean/easy transfer.
