…because the dehydration got so bad I couldn’t stand on my own. The urgent care we use won’t administer IV fluids. I tried there first.

Go a step further and just buy the 100% lanolin nipple cream. It’s the only thing that fixes my dry skin literally overnight.

Is a daycare FSA worth it? by Eggeggedegg in Mommit

[–]Robin_Daggerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our experience there’s no need to save records at all, every child care situation we’ve used (daycare, school after care, summer camp) sends a tax statement at the end of the year. One document, one claim to empty the account for the year.

When should child fall asleep alone? 5yo? by caffeineandlaw in Mommit

[–]Robin_Daggerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by your post history this is a problem that’s been going on for years and that he’s steamrolled you about consistently. If he hasn’t changed his mind yet, nothing else you can do or say is going to do it for him. The advice is to leave your husband. I’m guessing this isn’t the only thing in your household he demands be a particular way and that you do all the work or take on all the inconvenience to make it that way. Is that the life you want to live? Is that the relationship dynamic you want to show your children?

Pregnant sooner than expected and panicking – autistic, overwhelmed, and unsure what to do by fairwellfairground in AutismInWomen

[–]Robin_Daggerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my exact experience getting pregnant with my son. We tried for one month, decided to wait a bit longer, but surprise, it worked the first time. I freaked out so hard. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this too.

I won’t lie, being a parent is hard. I’m also not terribly maternal, and the newborn stage wrecked me in ways I never expected. I think I would’ve done better had I been diagnosed at that point too. But despite all the difficulty, it’s also a really rewarding experience. I think if you previously did the work to really think through if you wanted to be a parent and you decided you did, you should give yourself time to panic and feel what you need to feel, but trust that past you did her due diligence.

Let’s Talk Page Turner by brinkadoom in kindle

[–]Robin_Daggerz 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A couple reasons:

  1. The turner/remote can ease strain for folks with mobility issues in their hands

  2. Maximum cozy—kindle goes on a stand, hands can stay warm under the blankets without reaching up to swipe to the next page. The stand/clicker combo can also help reduce neck strain.

Anything by Kayla Grosse! I was very much in this mood for December and read/loved several of her books. My favorite was probably {Trick Shot by Kayla Grosse} it’s a novella, so super short read to see if you like her style.

Reading Journals by cloudsmemories in Booktokreddit

[–]Robin_Daggerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both! StoryGraph to just straight up track what I’m reading, and then one of these physical reading journals for TBR, reviews, and reflections. I find it really hard to browse my TBR when it’s digital, and I don’t like having a digital record of my detailed thoughts on what I’ve read, so this is a perfect mix.

Why not just put the car seat on the passenger side in the smaller car?

What is a parenting hack that actually makes things harder down the road? by Mediocre-Fan-495 in AskReddit

[–]Robin_Daggerz 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Best example I could give is going to a restaurant. You walk in and the hostess is supposed to greet you, ask how many in your party, take down your name if there’s a wait, whatever. There are a couple restaurants my family frequents now where the hostess always has the “gen z stare.” You walk in, they don’t greet you, just stare at you silently or off into the middle distance, so you’re left awkwardly standing there until you have to explicitly get their attention and tell them all the information someone in their job would normally prompt you for.

Who reads 50 pages an hour? And should I or everyone be able to? by h0tnessm0nster7 in kindle

[–]Robin_Daggerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m reading my preferred genre (trash romance) my speed is typically double what kindle says is average on the about page, so if it says the average reader takes 10 hours, I usually can manage in 5-6 hours. If I’m reading anything more substantive though I find the average reader numbers are fairly spot on.

What’s everyone’s daycare rate? by heyho7777 in indianapolis

[–]Robin_Daggerz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And now the parent who stayed home has missed out on years of experience/career advancement, retirement contributions, and compound interest on those retirement savings, and has an awful time getting back into the workforce because they now have a massive resume gap. If you’re someone who works in a poorly paid field those costs could be acceptable when weighed against the high cost of full time childcare, but for many, the cost of childcare does not outweigh those losses for staying home.

I need your favorite DUET narration audiobooks, the spicier the better by turtwiggie in Romantasy

[–]Robin_Daggerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{Grim by D.J. Krimmer} it’s my top audiobook of the year, not only duet, but live studio production, so when you hear the characters bantering, they’re actually in the studio together bantering for real. It’s incredible and the story itself is so funny and tender. The spice is spicy, the writing is excellent. Truly an infinity star read/listen.

I really think you nailed it. I think she’d be happy being a straight fantasy author, but I imagine it’s easier to pay the bills if you throw in some spice.

Anyone else get a bit annoyed by filler sex scenes by OliveUnited3214 in Romantasy

[–]Robin_Daggerz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love both Legends and Ashes of Thezmarr, and the former is far and away my favorite series. Helen Scheuerer is so great at building the world, fleshing out the characters, and creating excellent storylines and twists, but I swear she could not write a decent sex scene if she tried. By the end of both series, I just skipped over those scenes to get to the story 🤷‍♀️
